Important Question about Offline BC Gameplay

Will we be able to play backwards compatible Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One offline? This is important for people with spotty internet connection, a wired connection, and it is also important because the Xbox 360 will probably be taken offline in the next
six years or so.

How many of you are BC2 Vets?

BC 2 had better maps but worst gameplay. BC 2 ranking system was dumb as well. If you wanted 50 within a good amount of time you had to keep switching weapons. BF3 has better conquest map layout, gameplay and rewards/unlocks/ranks/pointawardsthings. If they
add a snow map to BF3 I will pretty much forget everything about BC2.

I'm not saying gameplay isn't important but Mass Effect is about the story and the setting.

 

I don't know for certain, but I can't see why not.

 

The Xbox One backwards compatibility feature is complete emulation. I wouldn't see why you would have to be online. Now this is me just speculating, perhaps someone from the preview program can come in here and let us know.

I just can't imagine playing Mass Effect and I haven't saved in hours and then getting kicked offline due to a storm or something and then the game boots me.

I also just read "Digital Foundry vs Xbox One Backwards Compatibility" and no where in the article did it mention a required internet connection.

 

Yeah I can try it out in a bit, I'm not near my X1 at the moment.

 

It does work offline, once you've got your game downloaded of course.

I pulled the Ethernet cable and disabled the One's wifi. Mass Effect ran without a problem.

All that happens if that it tells you that there is no connection to Live, asks you if you want to exit and test your connection. Just pick no and you are free to play.

You can still save and they'll be updated to the Cloud the next time you play while connected to Live.

 

Hm. I was under the impression that digitally downloaded Xbox One games were unplayable offline, so I thought maybe the same would be true of the emulated 360 titles.

 

Nope, you can play your XB1 games offline - it's been that way since the release of the console. It's only all of the hubris prior to the console's release that caused that commotion because well, it could've happened with the way MS was trying to handle
things. Thankfully, though, that's all in the past and things are going pretty much how most of the consumers wanted it, and that's how it should be.

 

No no, I know you can play disc-based games offline, but digital?

 

I'm all digtal I only game I cant play offline is the crew sometimes I have to set my xbox to offline but no issues

Hm. Well, if you can play 'most' games digitally on the Xbox One without an internet connection, then I believe that is one over on the PS4, which I heard requires an internet connection to function with any digitally downloaded titles.

 

To play your digital games offline, the console you wish to use them must be the home console for your account. You must set the home console while connected to Xbox LIVE. Once the 'Home' console is set, you can play all Xbox One games offline, even the
digital ones.

In regards to the original question about playing BC Xbox 360 games offline, the answer is yes. You can play Xbox 360 games offline too. How do I know? I've just tried it with the Xbox Arcade game 'Perfect Dark' and it worked fine.
