These are just a few examples of the differences depending on what type of display you're using. Even a 1080P tv will see upgrades. What do you guys think?

    4K on xbox one?

Xbox one Dash Supports 1080/60P Max resolution, so will be upscaled by the display device if it has a higher resolution, from my experience upscaling for video games looks terrible, for video its not so bad if you have a decent bitrate. If you have a 60" 4K TV and a 1080P TV then the 1080P XBOX One image would look better on the 1080P Display, especially gaming wise since a lot of them games are at 720P they would look terrible at 4K upscaled, just take a look at BBC HD's low bit rate feed on sat or terrestrial on sport content it looks terrible on a 1080P display now feed that to a 4K display and your asking for trouble. Now you feed a 4K native image to a 4K or 1080P image and you will see the difference.

If they enable 4K Video Playback the 4K video will output at 4K/24HZ, and there will be no dashboard overlay unless they would render it at 4K 24 or 30HZ which I think would be doubtful.

    4k TV

An Xbox One right now, no 4k TV will make a difference. It will retain Input at 1080p only. For the Xbox One S and Project Scorpio, start looking for deals and prices like

    Google

In addition, to realize the best image possible make sure the 4k TV has HDR as a feature. All 4k TV's do not feature HDR.

  6. Thanks for posting.

So you can see a difference - then what?

As expected there is nothing that increase gaming experience to a larger degree.

The difference is about the same as X1 and PS4 difference when they came about, always felt X1 look that amount better.

Still there is nothing that make me play X1 games more than 360 games - it's all about gameplay.

And it's all about the game devs skills - thinking about how certain games look like having a fixed texture as background and feeling drawn rather than real.

Games like Uncharted 2 on PS3 frequently took my breath away with the thrilling sceneries you were to conquer.

What I hope for in Scorpio, being console to rule them all, is how devs can go wild in what they want to do - without having to spend half of time reducing that to what console can do.

So in a way I feel it would be better with a shift in console generation - and drop X1 and 360.

Because as it is now - devs still have to make games with reduced visuals to fit X1.

And further what I hope for in Scorpio is much more customizable interface and use home-screen space freely as I want.

It wasn't that long ago I had to replace my A/V setup because a lot of our home appliances got 'rekt' by storm damage (and nope, we didn't leave 'em outside, the outside got inside when a lightning strike hit the TV antenna and created a ripple effect throughout
the house). So, that was 2014, and I thought I'd bought the best-est new display panel at the time - a 50-inch Sony Bravia! So kewl.

My argument is that any image will be enhanced if you've invested wisely in a high quality baseline product. It's the reason I can look at a native 1080p image on my Bravia and *not* see a variable difference if I'm playing a "sub-standard" resolution (for
example, any number of 900p Xbox One games). By comparison, if I'd bought a cheaper monitor and its color gamut looked washed out or artificial, that wouldn't be the fault of the incoming signal, it'd be because the "cheaper" alternative had used inferior
components. When I think about how Scorpio will enhance my current setup, I'm *very* tempted to look the other way at 4K. My 1080p ain't broke, so why should I fix it?

It's a quandary, and the only way to resolve it is to wait and see what else 4K (or Scorpio) brings to the table. I saw Phil Spencer interviewed yesterday on XBOX ON, and he told the host that he's had a pre-production Scorpio in his house for nearly a month!
Phil is quite the evangelist and it's *very* difficult not to get swept away by facts and figures, but at the same time Phil was saying last year that if you were buying Scorpio, you would categorically *not* see the benefits in 1080p. All change, obviously,
but the bottom line is: the only thing that can sell a new television is something that SELLS THE IMAGE.

Of course, if Scorpio launches with a killer app, it'd be a no-brainer. But if we're playing the SAME games across the board, with varying levels of performance based upon your hardware, then I might not choose to replace my current setup - just my baseline
console. Judging by those sample images, brandiesel, I don't *see* a qualitative difference in spite of pixel count. But then I haven't played a 4K movie on my Xbox One S (as I haven't upgraded yet). Sometimes change is hard when your baseline product is already
of a very high quality (example: the Xbox family).

  11. What I feared is that Xbox management, spreadsheet guys, have seemed to be so out of touch with gamer userbase.

Even planning to have demand on X1 being online constantly at first.

As I recall early, it was even without a bluray drive - it was all supposed to be digital only.

And MS was seriously rediculed by Sony representatives even, and backed off those requirements.

And that Scorpio also was supposed to be only 4K-gaming, what were they thinking?

4K is used on smaller cinemas with like 5m wide screens and stuff.

That is supposed to make all the difference on 2m distance of a 60" or so monitor????

It's pure pixelhunting and more is better, kind of.

On PS4 Pro it seems that no devs really bother to make that extra effort to support the higher end modes, just the normal clock boost thingy.

What will the game be with Scorpio - only MS own studios that make use of the extra power?

Don't know how much BC has cost MS to convince devs to do that - but I cannot see how that is in publishers/investors interest to so much longer life on a game.

Keeping online servers cost a lot of money to stay on old releases.

Publishers like Codemaster just go about release another sequel of every game they have - every year - no looking back at all. No patches for PS4 Pro.

But will be fun to see what happends in june when more details are revealed....will sony release a PS5 eventually or is Scorpio to console to rule them all....

MS has the knowhow on BC, since doing a real good job on PC over the years - I still run some msdos software from the 80's on my XP I write this on.

Sony was never good at that - so that would mean major advantage to Xbox userbase providing that.

So if a PS5 I think Sony drop PS4, and possibly just minor power boost compared to Scorpio that really does not matter - if Scorpio specs will hold up to expectations....

Funny you should say that, because I've long been a bystander in the console 'wars'. Despite putting my faith and pocketbook in the XBOX brand, I nevertheless like to keep abreast of how the competition is faring. To that end, I religiously buy a bunch of
MULTIFORMAT magazines each month - I'm talking air freight editions bundled to the door (cases in point: Edge UK, GamesMaster UK, PC Powerplay AU, Game Informer, Official Xbox AU and Official PlayStation AU), and just yesterday I took delivery of the June
2017 edition of OPM Australia. The editorial opens with a clear acknowledgment of Scorpio's power, but ends with a proviso that PS4 Pro gamers haven't exactly cornered the high end market. To quote the editor: "If we get to a point where I need a PS4.8 Xtra
Pro to get a comparable gaming experience to the Xbox Hank Scorpio T-9000S.. man, count me and my wallet out."

In other words, he's saying that PlayStation is running scared. He *knows* that more power is just around the bend, but he's not the least bit comfortable that *his* pocketbook has to compete. As it should be. If we accepted that there was some console benchmark,
a point of demarcation that should never be crossed, we'd all still be living in 8-bit land. Viva the revolution! Images showing Scorpio on a 1080P display and 4K :D
