I'm trying to set up my Xbox One S, but every 30 seconds or so it restarts on its own.

Hi I'm a little late to this. I have a newer Samsung SUHD 65in 4k TV that I just purchased last year. I have this same issue with my Xbox One S. When I put my xbox one S into 4k settings my tv goes black every so often as well. I have noticed if i unplug
the hdmi cable and plug it back in. The screen will sometimes rapidly flash to black over and over every 2 seconds. I then restarted my xbox one s and it went away. However my tv still flashes to black on 4k settings but currently it does it every 30 mins
or so, very annoying. So it is not a tv issue it seems like its an Xbox one s communication issue with the tv.

So is there any xbox updates on this?

Attempted to turn off the option to power down drive so that it would be always on, but even then it spins down and up again every minute. So it seems no matter what setting it's on, it will not

1. keep drive powered on when in standby

or

2. keep drive powered off when in standby

So if it's doing a status check every 60 seconds, is it the drive that is spinning up on its own, or is it the XBOX OS that is spinning it up I wonder?

I have another drive which I have plugged in and tried this on, it is a Hitachi Touro 1tb (usb powered hdd) and it also spins up every 60 seconds. I plugged the hitachi into another XBOX one S and noticed it exhibited the identical behaviour... Spinning
up and down every 60 seconds.

So that's two drives on two Xbox One's. I'm very puzzled. Thoughts?

Glad I'm not the only one. I've been having this problem as well. I did a hard restart and unplugged my Xbox from the wall for 30 seconds and it did nothing. It's kinda of annoying, but the only way I found to fix this is by signing off your profile at start
up, let your Xbox One sit idle for 30 seconds or so, then all windows will pop up shortly and you can sign back in afterwards. However, I don't want to keep doing this every time I start up my Xbox One.

I'm having a similar problem my xbox one s does this if I try loading up a game it might not load same with a app then it just freezes for a good 30 minutes I have restarted it multiple times and it's still the same

I am having a similar issue, except it's not every single time I restart, but every time the XBox tries to update the system software. I will try to update, there will be a problem, either I'll try to cancel the update, or the XBox will restart on its own,
I'll try the update again, and it will tell me that I don't have space on the internal hard drive. I'll bypass the update, check the hard drive, and voila - unformatted!

This has happened three times in the last month. My XBox is about a year and a half old, so I'm guessing it's outside of the warranty. Fortunately, after the second time, I've taken to backing up my save files to a flash drive. Still, I don't understand
why it's happening so frequently.
