Please test your connection stability because larger downloads may require an extremely stable connection. Perform the following checks:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator. Run the command:

ping google.com -t

If there’s packet loss or high latency, restart your router and if incase it won't work kindly switch to a wired connection to get a more stable connection.

And then clear Windows Store and Xbox App cache because temporary files can interfere with larger downloads. To do this, press Windows + R, type wsreset, and hit Enter. This will reset the Microsoft Store cache. Reopen the Xbox app and attempt the download.

Next is ro change Xbox App download location. If the current storage drive has issues, try switching to another drive by going to Xbox App > Settings > General.

Under Game Installation Options, select a different drive for installation. Then reinstall the game.

Then update Windows and Xbox App because an outdated versions might cause download errors. To update Windows, open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install all updates.

And to update the Xbox app, please open the Microsoft Store, go to the Library, and update the Xbox app and Gaming Services.

I bought the Xbox ultimate game pass back in the beginning of February, and today it said that I had to renew it in order to play GTA 5. Instead of renewing that one I decided, for financial reasons, it would be best to “downgrade” to Xbox live gold. When I subscribed to Xbox live gold I thought it would fix the problem I was having, but unfortunately when I tried launching GTA 5, it instead said that in order to play it I need to buy it. Yes, I did buy GTA 5 with the Xbox ultimate game pass when I did have it because it was like $6 cheaper. I’ve tried restarting my game Ive tried waiting a couple of hours and give it a rest, but it doesn’t work.

As you claim that you purchased GTA V, try to uninstall it and install it again via the Xbox store, as this installation may be associated with the version available on the Game Pass

GTA 5 was added to game pass. If you have a group of people, that game keeps my entertained for hours on end!

Unfortunately yes, you’d need to purchase GTA 5 again for PC as the game is not a Xbox Play Anywhere title. The Xbox game disc and Xbox digital copy of GTA 5 aren’t compatible on PC. The PC and Xbox console versions of the game are separate, including the Xbox 360 version.

Because of this, your game progress and in-game items aren’t synced between the different versions (even on the same Xbox account and profile), I’m afraid. This also applies to your online character/level, game achievements, DLCs and add-ons etc.

I suggest to have a look around for offers, as the game can be quite expensive at some retailers but there are always some offers around.
