    I'm the only member in a "family account" as a child?


    Hello! I'm attempting to play a game using the Xbox pc game pass. The problem is, the game has an age restriction and even though I'm over the age of eighteen, the game pass thinks I'm a child.

    I've gone through the steps to attempt to fix this and have ended up on the family safety page. The problem being, I'm somehow not able to access anything on the safety page, even though I'm literally the only member. I can't leave it, nor can I change my own information. Is this something I'm able to fix myself or will I need to actually contact support?

    Kindly check your date of birth here since you mentioned that you are over the age of eighteen: https://account.microsoft.com/profile

    If it's correct, please try the steps below.

    Select the Windows icon on your PC then go to Settings then System -> Apps -> Apps & features -> look for Xbox app and click it. ->The advanced options link will appear. Click it. -> On the next page, click on the Reset button to reset Xbox app to default settings.

    After that, kindly sign out and sign back in on the Microsoft store and Xbox app.

    Have you ever had multiple accounts on your console? Weird that it would have only 1 member, and that member is a ID'ed as a child.

    In order to change your privacy/family settings, you would need to be signed in as the Organizer/Parent to make those changes (either directly on Xbox.com, via Xbox settings, or the app).

    Profile Issues

    There are 2 ways for an account to be seen in the system as a child account.

    1. The DOB on the account when it was originally setup. There is no way to change this in the Xbox profile side of things.

    2. If it is part of a family as a child account. Even as an adult an account can be added to a family as a child and the system will see it as a child account. You can sign into your account at account.microsoft.com/family and it will tell you if you are
    in a family and whether you are an adult or child in the familly. If your account is the only one on the page that means that you are the only member of the family and the account is considered an adult account.

    hi there i would suggest if the steps below dont work head over to https://support.xbox.com/ and chat to an advisor there to walk you through the steps in the mean time

    If you’re receiving this error code when trying to sign in with a child account, it may mean that the child account isn’t a member of your family.

    Child accounts that aren’t members of a family won’t be able to use the Xbox Live service until they’ve been added to a family. To verify whether the child account is a member of your family, sign in to your Microsoft account and see if the child’s
    account is listed on the Your family page.

    Sign in to your account

    If the child account is a member of your family, go to the next solution. If the child account isn’t a member of your family, you’ll need to add them so they can sign in and use Xbox Live. For info, see:

    Add family members on Xbox One

    or

    Make sure that your privacy settings are set so that the child account can sign in. To do so, have the child sign in to their account at www.xbox.com. Then, when prompted, the adult account associated with the child account should sign in to www.xbox.com
    and give permission for the child account to sign in to Xbox Live.
