I'm still getting a strict NAT after static IP, DMZ and port forwarding

I had trouble with chats and playing online so I looked at the Xbox' network settings and I found out that the NAT is strict, not open. I've tried using a static IP, DMZ and port forwarding, nothing worked. The only thing that opened the NAT was to bridge
it, but then, only the Xbox works, nothing else. I also had the modem replaced. The modem is an **** DG1670 on Time Warner.

    What else can I do?

My replacement Xbox comes in on Thursday. Could that make any difference?

    :)

  2. Cannot get NAT open on XBOX ONE; stuck on strict.

Ok, I still am not getting open nat even with static ip settings in router.

    I have tried:

1.) firewall enabled, dmz disabled, upnp enabled

2.) firewall enabled, dmz enabled, upnp enabled

3.) firewall disabled, dmz enabled, upnp enabled

Nothing is working. I have not tried port forwarding, but if dmz does not work, then i doubt port forwarding will.

The easiest way is to give your Xbox One a static IP and place it in the DMZ in your router's settings. I also had issues with strict NAT and manually forwarding ports or using UPnP didn't work, but once I placed the Xbox One's IP in the DMZ it's been open
    ever since.

Usually I would recommend a factory reset on your issue, but if you get an exchange Xbox anyway, you may also wait für it to arrive and then check your connection with this one.

Okay, after getting a new console and lots of troubleshooting with Time Warner. I finally figured it out, by accident in fact. What caused the NAT to be strict was turning the firewall off.

I just got this modem 2 days ago and NORMALLY for my Xbox/Xbox 1 Nat to switch I would have to turn the firewalls OFF...Ironically...the OPPOSITE caused my Xbox 1 to switch from Strict to Open...Took me two days and seeing RockyKramer's post for me to try
    this...

    Arris playing trick on me...Grrrr!!!!

(Sidenote) -- UNLESS you don't plan on using wireless devices or doing a hard reset after performing this...Do not...I repeat DO NOT swtich ya NAT to Bridged...It shuts off ALL Wireless functions...This was made to use in conjunction with a router...Not
    with a single gateway...lol

Frosty4024 - Glad I could help, and you're right, normally, the firewall can cause problems with the NAT, but in this case (and with this modem), turning the firewall OFF is what's causing the strict NAT. The best thing is, it's been 9 months (since the
original post) and the NAT has stayed OPEN the whole time.

And yeah, stay away from the "Bridged" setting!

    Hey pRiMo1999!

Since this is an older thread, please post a new thread detailing the exact issue you're experiencing. Be sure to include information such as your router and modem information, along with any error codes you see. Posting a new thread is the best way to
receive support from the community! I'm still getting a strict NAT after static IP, DMZ and port forwarding :)

NAT - Strict and Behind Port Symmetric NAT

I finally got a chance to try it out and Xbox Live is having difficulties. Although with DMZ it still shows strict, but I'm not sure if the service problems would affect that. I gave it a static IP, Upnp enabled and no port forwarding for the One.

I'll try it with port forwarding with the ports from above after Live is running normal.

Thanks for everyone's input so far.

    Port Forwarding to Xbox Live

Port forwarding still has me on strict nat type and I cannot seem to set static routing on ky router as it encounters an ip issue.

NAT stuck on strict saying UPNP not successful with DMZ and UPNP enabled

I have put the console in the DMZ zone after making the console IP static, I then port triggered all of those ports, then turned my UPnP off and on, then disabled the firewall on my internet. None of that worked though, it still says my NAT is strict and that my UPnP is unsuccessful.

NAT changing at random on gears 3.

In addition to giving the Xbox a static IP, did you forward the right ports to the Xbox or put the Xbox in the DMZ? Either should give you open NAT. You can have open NAT without doing either but that's the only way to be sure.

On my son's Xbox (the one without port forwarding or DMZ) it will occasionally switch from open to strict on it's own. Unplugging the router for a few minutes usually solves the problem for a while.
