I'm ready to give up...

So within the last week I've had so many issues with the Xbox One that I am ready to switch to another console. I became an Xbox fan when I bought my first xbox back in the original Halo days. It was a very exciting time for me because I had my very first
job and it was the first console I've bought with my own money. I loved it, I spent countless hours playing Mech **** and Halo and had absolutely no issues with my console. When the Xbox 360 launched I already knew that that was going to be my console of
choice. I've gone through a few of them for faulty disc drives, but I always just bought a new one and I never let it get to me. Now when the Xbox One launched I was very excited and put mine on pre- order as soon as I could, I was the first one to pre order
one at our local Gamestop. And when it launched I was so excited about it that I actually took some vacation days to enjoy it. I had no issues with it until last week. My X1 randomly started having disc read issues. Now I've had this before but after it happening
so many times it's really getting old. But I figured even if it's only reading the discs 10% of the time. I'll deal with it, at least until I get some Titanfall time in. So, whatever for now. Yesterday morning my Kinect stopped working, looked at some forums
for solutions and none of them worked. It won't even turn on, it tells me it's unplugged. I thought, well at least I can still play games. Until this morning. My X1 officially does not read discs at all now, On this day... The eve of picking up my 250$ collectors
edition of Titanfall... I would not be as heated about this, if I were allowed to play project Spark. But apparently Project Spark is very picky about who they care about. I applied for a beta key through them months before the launch of the beta, And they
sent me a key that doesn't work. I've tried contacting them through various means and never received one response, as I see people handing out handfuls of beta keys that they received from them. I even applied for a new beta code and it said it would be here
in 4 days... that was a week ago. So now I sit here with a X1 that doesn't play discs. And a project spark beta that I'm apparently not important enough to play. So at midnight I can pick up my Titanfall collectors edition and stare at my statue and wish that
I could play the game. Words cannot describe how frustrated I am right now. I've spent thousands of dollars on these consoles. I own over 13 games for my X1 already. And I am not spending another dime on this console until I am taken seriously. This week has
been hell with this console...

We've been having an exceptionally mild winter here. Yesterday after work I went home, put on a light pair of jogging pants, a T-shirt and a long sleeve T-shirt over top of it and went for a jog at about 5:00 p.m. I was sweating with such light clothing
on in late January. Unbelievable.

We're probably gonna get overrun by bugs this summer since the temps haven't gotten cold enough to kill the bastards off. As if mosquitoes weren't bad enough here already.

 

The mention of mech warrior, and disc read issues on the 360 really takes me back. Anyway, back to current times. It really is a shame to hear that you are having so much trouble with your Xbox One. I'd recommend starting an RMA or exchange process at the
retailer you got it from(if that is an option). The longer you wait, the longer you will have to wait to play Titanfall, and your other games.

As for Project Spark, if you plan to wait on sending your XB1 in. You should try to just download the Beta if you haven't already. Just search Project Spark on the console to find it. I was invited to the windows 8 beta, but never redeemed the key. I thought
I would have to on the Xbox One when the beta was made available. I however took the advice of some folks on the forums and just downloaded the Beta, and never had to enter the Key. That is probably why you see so many people giving away keys.

 

I am a bit confused. You never stated what exactly they need to take you serious about. No disrespect intended. The XBOX console and Kinect are under warranty - you can always request a repair?

How is Project Spark Microsofts fault? Isn't it Team Dakotas creation?

Again no disrespect intended. Things happen in life and some of them just happen at the suckiest of the times. It is part of life - get your console repaired and move on!

 

I've contacted support many times about various issues I've had with past consoles and not been helped in any way. That's how I'm not taken seriously. The Project Spark thing is just to inform Microsoft, because a lot of people have been having issues with
them. You can see a lot of their snarky responses to fans on their facebook page. And they should be held accountable for their maltreatment. I did download it last week, and it asked me for a beta key, and the one they gave me didn't work. I've had issues
with the Titanfall beta as well and they were more than happy to help me. No disrespect taken, and you are right. But I've spent so much on this company and been treated very badly by it in the past. I've owned an Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox 1, and a Microsoft surface,
my PC runs on windows 8. It's just frustrating because I don't feel like I should have to miss out on something I spent so much money on tonight, for something that was their fault. There should be compensation.

 

I've also heard that if you send the console in they put a sum of money on hold on your debit card. Is this true?

 

Yes, if you do advanced repair for kinect or console, or both, they will put a hold for that value on your CC meaning you can't spend it; however you won't have to pay that amount either as a hold doesn't count as a transaction. If you wait to send yours
back before receiving the repair/replacement there won't be a hold because they aren't shipping you hardware in advance.

I heard the project spark beta key cannot be redeemed on the Xbox one. you have to enter the key into some website and it will them give you access on the one. I hope maybe that's what you were doing incorrectly and you can at least play something. sorry
about what's going on.

 

I feel your pain OP .... I am in a similar boat where mine does not want to read discs but about 10% of the time. I was unable to exchange my day one edition at the retailer , guess I should have sprung for the store offered warranty having gone through
2 360's. With XMAS, my wife and 2 kids birthdays all happening since mine acted up I cant afford to freeze up $500 dollars on the advanced return. The prospect of sending it in and waiting 2-3 weeks with no games and Xbox not compensating its core group
of consumers in some way ... really has me feeling like I made the wrong choice this round.

Compound that with how buggy chat has been which has made playing with friends a chore .... ugh. I hope it all gets sorted out. I need to bite the bullet and send mine in I guess and survive without for a while.
