    why.... did you take it to someone other than MS? any repair not authorized by MS will be detected and read as having been a tampered-with xbox, and therefore will not be accepted by LIVE anymore. sigh

    ok i recently had a disc reader error and i no longer have a warranty on my xbox. so, i take it to a local computer repair place where they can fix it. i get it back and it work ok for about the first 10-15 minutes then im getting an error for a regular
    media disc when black ops is in the tray. so i end up taking it back long story short, i wait 3 weeks get it back said they have to replace cpu and i now have the red ring of death when it didnt have it when i took it in. gets better!! so now they want to
    refund the original $80 to fix it the 1st time i took it in and the seals on the front and the back part show no signs of the case having been popped open. they said their guy puts on new seals but i thought that was illegal unless authorized my microsoft.
    well they also have refused to give the name of the person/ business they sent my xbox to. my question is can they or anyone put new seals on an xbox other than microsoft?...... if this is a tech you have my cell number in my personal info text me!!!

    You suggest that you've received the console as second-hand... is it banned from Xbox Live? There would be an error that pops up that says "This console is banned", or something along the lines of that. If that is the case, there is nothing that can be done
    for that; console bans are permanent and irreversible.

    If you are able to connect online, check that the Xbox is
    optimally configured for your network    .
