    I’m not able to record on my External hard drive


    I’ve been using an external hard drive to record game clips for about a year now on my xbox one. Recently my xbox decided to stop recording to my external hard drive and I have no clue why. When I go to storage it’s there and I am able to set it as my
    capture location but then when I record anything it goes straight to the internal drive. I’ve tried the couple troubleshooting methods that xbox says to do bit none have worked. Any suggestions?

    1. Plug an external storage device (USB 3.0, NTFS-formatted) into your Xbox. ...
    2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, then select System > Settings > Preferences > Capture & share.
    3. Select Capture location, then choose a destination for your game clips and screenshots

    Storage is fine, have tons if extra still left. What do you mean by advanced menu? Is that somewhere in settings? Do you mean when i go into my storage and select the external device? If so i have tried that and it still wont record to it

    Do you have the Cloud App installed ? Is the app due an update - I found when the Cloud App needs an update it will start storing again locally instead of the cloud

    Great Question,

    Have you Tried to check how much storage is on the Hard Drive? If that is good then go to you Advanced Options in the Xbox Menu where you record and see if its set to External Hard Drive instead if Internal Hard Drive.

    Thank you for the solutions it seems that my external hard drive was the cause of this. But now I’m wondering will I need to get a new external hard drive
