im having trouble adding friends

I am having trouble adding friends on the windows Xbox app. Either there is no possible way for me to add someone or its not easily accessible. Please help me I'm trying to add my friends on my computer.

I would recommend following the instructions below:

Launch the browser on your Xbox console or PC.
Go to Xbox.com and sign in with your Xbox credential.
Select your Profile (gamerpic) and select Friends.
4.In the Search box, type the Gamertag (of your friend) and hit enter. Make sure the gamertag’s spelling and spacing are correct.
From the search result, select Add friend to add the person’s gamertag to your friend list.
