im getting disconnected constantly

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Please perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

Yeah, it started after the latest update on my xbox aswell when I think about it.

Hey there, have you tried to re-download your profile? Lot of times when people get disconnected from LIVE, it just takes them to re-download their profile and it resolves the issue, so give that a go and let us know if that helps.

Since d latest update my xbox has been disconnecting every now and den.its also.a bit choppy at times.its 100% not my isp.i think its to do wit d latest update ........??

So on college or community internet speed isn't actually the issue here. Because of the large number of devices connected to the network and depending on how they have their equipment setup you could be connecting through any number of routers/switchs.
Sadly we can't use your roommates xbox as any kind of example because he's in my opinion just getting a lucky draw when he connects through the network. My advice would be to talk to whomever is in charge of your network and see if they have any dmz passthroughs
or NAT passthroughs because that's going to be what's causing your disconnection issue more than likely.

I say all this because back when I was in college I was in charge of two dorm networks and this was a huge issue the whole campus faced. Some console were fine while others wouldn't connect and it was all luck of the draw on how our routing system handled
the data when it was presented. Either way the only way to fix this will be to talk to your IT department. Best wishes!
