I'm connected to the WiFi but not Xbox live.

Quite often when I get home I start up the Xbox and it states that I'm not connected to Xbox live. I go to my network and test all connections which say that everything's fine, which it isn't. I also have done a hard reset on my console, still nothing. Can
someone please explain what is happening! Thanks!

PS don't say test your network or connect directly to the modem...

Help with WiFi/Xbox LIVE

I was wondering what all can I do on my Xbox One while I'm connected to WiFi, but not using Xbox LIVE.

 

Connected to wifi but not to xbox live?

I've had this issue for a few days now and it comes and goes, but i've been stuck with this for about a week straight now. I am connected to wifi and when I click test connection,etc it says everything is good and that I am connected to the internet. But
when I go back to the home page it says "connect to xbox live" and clicking on this button does nothing. I can still download games from the store.

 

Have you tried Xbox Live port forwarding on your modem?

 

Kind of hard to say with the given information. I am going assume that you are talking about the xbox one and by " testing your connection" you are doing this on your xbox by going to " Settings > Network > Network Settings > Test Network connection / Test
multiplayer connection " on your xbox one?

If so and you are getting the " It's all good" message there are a few other steps you can take to try and make things work. I am sure you probably have done some of these but just want to cover the basics before going into more advanced steps to take.

Step 1: Turn off your xbox console and unplug the power.

Step 2: Turn off your modem / router and unplug the power from them as well. After 30 seconds plug the power back into your modem (wait for all the lights to come back on) then your router(You can also leave them unplugged for 10 solid minutes
so that they drop your ISP tables and everything. In other words truly reset you modem.)

Step 3: Plug you xbox back in and start it up. Try connecting again to see if you are getting through to Xbox Live now.

If none of these steps helped continue onto step 4 where we will get into some more advanced troubleshooting steps.

Step 4: Now as Pyrodan49 suggested we will need to try port forwarding. Here is a link for the ports you will need to forward.

Step 5: If all steps failed to get you on xbox live you will need to call Xbox Support and possibly your ISP provider.

 

A modem is the device your ISP provides for you to connect to in order to get internet service. They may have referred to it as a gateway which is a modem/router combination.
