Ideally, you would want to
turn off the auto-renewal on your subscription before your billing date to prevent further charges on your account. At this state, you would have to settle that balance before you would be able to do this.

Contact Xbox Customer Support as they would be better equipped to assist you with arriving at a favorable resolution to this matter.

To not renew your subscription, visit your
Microsoft Account page via your PC/phone's web browser. From there, find your Subscription and choose 'Do Not Auto renew' - that should take care of your situation.
Cancelling it will revert you back to a
Gold subscriber, where you will have a choice to purchase Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold subscriptions separately.

A friendly reminder, that Ultimate Game Pass encompasses Gold, Game Pass, Game Pass for PC and X Cloud (gaming on your phone/tablet).

But i want to cancel i dont have money to pay for this new month they are charging me for why does it not auto cancel when payment fails? I refuse to pay for it cause im not gonna use it and want to cancel my membership completely

I'm having a similar problem, I paid for my monthly renewal then the card I used to pay for Live got cancelled/ran out of money but they give me another 2 months worth of Live anyway and when that ended they suspended my account until they get the money...
I didn't ask for the extra 2 months, for all they know I could have went away for a few weeks or something and yet I'm being made to pay for them giving me more than they should have, it's unreal...
