Drive by posts? You act as if the original MS Shareplay allowed 10 people to play whatever game they liked for as long as they liked. Im sure there would be some that find the loophole in the system and abuse it but it's not very different to what I can
do now sharing my Digital games with a friend.

    @Rippen

This is from the Xbox site prior to launch, I've even linked the page....

Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family
member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given
    time.

It did allow 10 people to play any game for as long as they liked. The only limitation was only one person could access the library at a time other than the owner. Microsoft was asked for more specifics when they announced it and went silent.

At launch it probably wouldn't have been a big deal for developers financially, like you said it pretty much would have been like what we have now with "Home Console". Now we have much larger digital libraries (which will continue to grow) and a group of
people sharing libraries turns into their own private Gamefly. It's why it got shot down on Steam, I have a 1000 games on Steam, people with 10 friends like me would never need to buy a game again.

A drive by post is a post made by someone simply to provoke a reaction (normally short, critical " I don't like SharePlay because it's useless" and adds nothing to the conversation), the person making the post then disappears from the thread. I wasn't referring
    to you.

Hi bstn! Long time no bickering between us.

@Rand Hi! I dont care for indies *ducks for cover*

In all seriousness, not sure why anybody who doesn't own a PS cares about shareplay and how good it does or doesn't work. If I had a PS I wouldn't use it as I see no point. Its nothing more than a demo that is extremely reliant on a connection. But
thats not to say others wont like it and use the feature alot. Also it all depends on what features devs turn off. If COD is turning off MP then its useless if thats the game I want to test before buying.

Not sure how well the MS family sharing could have worked, but developers would've taken a hit but they (some) were in support of the original vision right? All in all its just plastic who cares?"

@Akame nice to see you... Just wanted too add in regards to SharePlay developers can not opt out of SharePlay all games are supported. The only thing you can opt out of is alphas, betas and spoilers. Call of Duty has not turned of SharePlay but they put
a region lock on it so you can only play with people in your region which makes sense. Here is a link about it.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has a Region Lock on Share Play | SegmentNext

And who knows what the future will hold for something like this there is already concern about people not buying games beacuse they just share there friends games. Threads are popping up all over from people making lists for SharePlay friends just to share games
with. Because you can start a new 60 minute session as soon as your 60 minutes expires there is nothing stopping you from playing a game start to finish for free. Well except you will not earn trophies and have to play in 30fps 720p but people are cheap so
this feature is going to be abused I can already see it.

In some form this will come to Xbox 1 soon imo I bet it's already being worked on.

In the instances where I've already used it, 720p is fine. Friends have "demo'd" games and on Tues I'll be able to play Binding of Isaac with friends who don't own the game local co-op only they won't need to be in my house. Many of the indie games 720p
    or 1080p is irrelevant.

It's a free feature and I have already found uses for it so why people think it's a bad thing is strange.

But why is it fine? I thought everyone wanted the standard to be 1080p? Is it because you can play the game for free that you are willing to lower your standards?(Not you specifically Randver, just generalizing)

It just seems to me that a good portion of the Sony fanbase who thump their Sony bibles on social media and gaming forums give passes to Sony for just about anything. The Order 1886 isnt native 1080p and needs black bars to achieve 1080p, but its okay because
its Sony. As soon as Halo 2 was confirmed to be less than 1080p Sony fans were out in full force.

In the case of games like Binding of Isaac or Volgar the Viking it's pixel animation so resolution isn't going to matter.

Do I want to play AAA titles in 720p? No and my friends won't either but if I was 15 (or even older and short on funds) and the only way I could play those games was to play them in 720p I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I don't get into the resolution debates here because from my point view every game on the console looks horrible compared to my PC so I could just as easily wonder why on earth anyone would play a multiplat on a console. You make do with what you have if
the alternative is not playing a game at all.

@Akame Because it's stream quality. Nobody can expect anything being streamed to look as good as a disc or download. Take Netflixs for example if I watch a movie even in 1080p streamed it looks no where near as good as if I put in the same movie on my BluRay
    player.

There is a a trade off and in the case of SharePlay it goes even further because you want the stream to be smooth so you have to give up a little bit of resolution and framerate to make it happen.

I think the thing you are thinking about would be more like me saying so what it's only 720p it looks as good as 1080p so who cares my TV upscales it lol. And that's not the case I would love it to be 1080p but it's not...And I would never say otherwise
it's a trade off and I have to deal with it. But in no way is it a big deal it's free and looks good just not great.

@Randver I also have atleast 10 friends that I would have added to my family but you still think that it would be so easy to play a game in your friends library. I could imagine half the time you wanted to play that new game your friend just bought you would
be locked out because someone else is playing it. It didn't go into detaiLe on quite a number of things but MS went silent mainly because it was connected to the check in on Disc purchases that scuttled the whole idea. I and most would find it quite frustrating
to not get to play a game when ever the moment takes you and most would have a try and if they liked buy and if not don't buy, but in favour of Devs the number of used copies of games in circulation would take a hit.

@Randver Sorry that my time is preoccupied a bit with more real world ish and I do so called drive by posts lol. Your attempts to discredit what I said is rather amusing though.

Shareplay allows for playing an entire game someone owns for free with the only limitations that the person who owns it keep it going every hour. This is actually a little bit worse off since devs can decide to block out what ever they want apparently lol.

Family Share allowed only a single person to play from a FULL game from your library with the limitation that no one else could play from your library while someone else was accessing it. With time it could've turned out wack like Shareplay but we didn't
    get that far did we?

Its quite literally the same thing except one (Shareplay) is lower in quality (connection dependent because of streaming), more of a hassle (owner has to be there and is forced to hold your hand through the experience), and less accessible (again, connection
dependent for people with caps or terrible internet).

Either way, they both could theoretically cut down on the pool of used games while making incredibly impatient people (most gamers) go out and buy their own copy (hopefully new). In that regard I support it. I just hope MS doesn't come back with such a terrible
    cop-out as Shareplay.

If it's making you seasick that's not Sony's fault. That's a framerate issue which is a problem with your internet speed not SharePlay.

I've been using it since it launched and have had only a positive experience. I think N7 makes a valid point about but I'll flip it around....if this was launched on the One people here would be raving about it but since they don't have it, they hate it.
    Sigh.....single console owners.

^^I wouldn't rave about it. I dont like limitations. I can buy my own games and not have to worry about streaming a game from a friend. But that USB music is a huge game changer.

Netflix streaming at 1080p is not a fair example though because video can be buffered, streaming an interactive game over Shareplay is a different beast all together and i'm personally surprised that people aren't having serious latency issues.

    aren't Twitch streams at 720p?
