Ignoring The Giant Flaming Unicorn In The Room

So "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" released on Tuesday.

It's the 5th installment in what's supposed to be an amazing game franchise.

So why is nobody talking about it?

    :)

    This game is absolutely hilarious.

    Floating girls.

    Flaming Unicorns.

    Weather Balloon Abductions.

    Absolute comedy gold.

  3. Whoops!

Mine involves a giant. So I was fighting a giant, then his 2 mammoth buddies joined in. A passing band of Thalmor's were kind enough to jump in. So I decided to try out a "Scroll of Firestorm"...not a good idea. Soon I had 3 Thalmors, 2 flaming Mammoths,
and a giant trying to kill me. Thank god for Hitskin.

It does seem a bit quiet.

I've seen two regular forum users only today saying they are not quite feeling it at the moment.

My son got it on release. He said he was enjoying but he's not touched it in a few days. Says he's finding it hard to find the motivation to go back to it.

I know not everyone goes by reviews but it does seem surprising because it did get some pretty good scores or maybe it's a case that people are just off enjoying it?

I did want to give it a go myself but the more I play Mad Max the more addictive it becomes so this can wait for now.

    You finding it tough Mark?

I've read a few comments saying it can get really tough in places.

  7. I love the game. One of my favourites to be honest. Yes the game can be tough at times, but that only adds to the fun of it. I am not very far into the as of yet. Because I like to take my time with games. I like the open world concept and there is always
a few things to do on the side (find collectibles, hunt animals.. kinda).

I do agree that the lack of threads about this game is odd.

The last MGS was a $30 game (free with Gold last month)..... what makes this one worth $70?

    Actually... It's
NOT an amazing game franchise. You only THINK it is.

    With that said, the
HARDCORE GAMERS are probably too busy playing this month's GWG (GARBAGE WITH GOLD) offering
THE DEER GOD. I've heard it's awesome... because... well... it's free.

It's not that good in my opinion, the open world is pretty much empty of anything apart from checkpoints and mission locations, the way it's broken into "episodes" ruins any sense of immersion or story involvement. The missions are all the same so far,
and some of them are clearly filler material. Extract a lost sheep? Really? So far mother base is boring to visit, micro management of base resources is boring. Missions are spaced far apart and it gets boring travelling to and fro on the horse In
a bland world of rocks. Don't know whether I will be able to stick with it, even the stealth is just boring,I usually just end up going Rambo to get something happening. Ground Zeros was better in my opinion.

they would have been better off re doing Snake Eater........

  12. Ground Zeros wasnt really a game. I would call it a prelude mission to MSGV. You could finish it in an hour.

@Lofty, I wouldn't say I've found it difficult so far, but I've been taking my time scouting bases etc, if I trigger an alarm I play it through whatever the outcome, I'm not trying for S grade on every level, if you do I could see that being very difficult/frustrating.

@ Genchy, I can't argue with any point you made, they are all valid, me personally I've never really played the MGS series so tbh the story means nothing to me anyway, what I do love is just a good old fashioned stealth game which this achieves very well.

You could finish the first mission in an hour, then you had the sides, I put plenty hours into GZ and found the missions more enjoyable, not only that PP has some really shoddy game animations/mechanics that Honeybee mission at the end when you use a single
fire weapon and then it magics into another fully loaded single fire weapon simply because if it didnt the story wouldn't work Crawling or attempting to climb an obstacle and either hitting an invisible wall crawling or slip sliding on a two foot high rock.
I'm just not feeling it at all.....
