I believed all along what MS said (about resolutions improving and the PS4 not being some kind of rampant powerhouse), and it came true. First it was 720p vs 1080p, then 900p vs 1080p, and now we are marching into 1080p vs 1080p, even with identical graphical
settings. Metro Redux is a bad example with the small and ineffectual team at 4A (geez guys, Metro 2033 graphically was awful), and the 912p is to be expected. Heck, we might even see MS get that up to the fabled full HD, who knows.

Hate seeing "792p box" everywhere when it was the standard for two games though.

 

Never mind. Good things come to those who wait, but for the Xbox One I shall amend that and say Great things come to those who wait. We're already at the good stage.

 

So, Hero, you think the Xbox One has already hit its stride? Care to elaborate?

 

On the contrary, I think we've barely scratched the surface. I just think that the stage Xbox One in right now is 'Very Good'. Rolling out new services, constant updates, new games, deals... it's all very good. As we press on, I expect it's standing to become
superb. We've barely begun.

 

Hm, maybe i know little of what the xbox is capable, but what i know for sure is that the things i know have not been improved:

using it as a streaming media to watch movies on my pc harddisk is not yet working

if i start my xbox before i start my router the xbox can't find the wireless connection

cod ghosts blocks all other apps (may be a cod issue, but for sure the xbox is not powerfull enough to handle this ...)

 

For sure you say? I haven't had a problem with loading apps in Call of Duty, streaming Netflix or Prime, and the only time I've had any connectivity issues is when it's been down for maintenance, or FIFA 14 has completely crashed my network.

 

I think the X1 will have a really good Xmas this year. One thing I have mentioned in the past, is the Kinects impact on sale's. Now I'm not talking about people who saw kinect as being "forced" on them, I'm talking about parent's who refused to buy there
kid's an X1 because it had a camera with it.

A lot of people still believed the Kinect had to be plugged in to the X1 for it to function up until recently too. The fact is though, a large number of parent's don't want their kid's having the ability to video chat (Skype) in the kid's bedroom's. I know
GG, you have said before that if you had kid's you would want the X1 at the centre of the house and make it a family affair, But most kid's (including My own) just want the console as their own and play game's with their friend's.

So yeah, I believe this Xmas will see a huge boost in sale's due to the Kinectless X1. My son is a good example of this, I think I would of really struggled to get her to let him have an X1 this year if it wasn't for the Kinectless SKU. I really think MS
never give a thought to how many parent's would be put off by a mandatory Kinect.

I read earlier that someone said something like "I don't want a 360 replica"? This kind of thinking really baffle's Me. The 360 is a perfectly evolved console, Why would people not want the X1 to function perfectly like a 360 and have all the features of
a 360 but with the added capabilities and power of the X1?

When the 360 came out, it did everything that the Original Xbox did and more, it was a big step up. Unfortunately the X1 failed to do the same on it's release and was missing a ton of features that people expected from the 360.

I truly believe MS would of had a much better reception if they released a 360-2, Pretty much everything the 360 is but with the power of the X1.

 

Only in hindsight, Goat. At this point, I suppose we'll never really know whether a souped-up version of the 360 would've been better.

In any case, regarding having a camera in front of your children, I can easily see why people won't do it - it's a valid argument. I however, like to think that because I'm knowledgable enough with the parental controls, I'd know how to make child accounts
and prevent my kids from using the camera at all for communication purposes. In fact, I'd probably have the privacy settings for their accounts setup so they're pretty strict.

 

GG. I agree about knowing how to make it safe for children, unfortunately a lot of parents don't know a thing about parental control's with the X1(or consoles in general). And it's hard to convince some people who aren't into console's/gaming that there
is a safe way to do thing's. My wife is a good example, all she saw when the X1 launched was the camera, and she wasn't interested in what parental control's it had.... It came down to " He isn't having a camera in his bedroom, to many perverts on the net",
and that was it..... The end lol. And a lot of friends who have kids share the same opinion. Anyway, since the Kinectless sku came out, there is our son and 8 of his friends in his class getting an X1 for Xmas.

On another note, I did wonder if this thread would of turned out badly tbh, good to see it stayed civil over the last few day's.

GG, I have just read your original post, As long as there are gamers, there will be consoles and PCs to play games on,As long as your competive drive hurls you into gaming you love, developers will make games.Microsoft and Xbox are set in stone;like getting
health information off the internet, youl be dead in 5 minutes, Reading the media generated on Xb1 you, l be throwing it away befor you know it, MS and xbox aint going anywhere, the amount of xb1s that the mc collection will sell will be huge let alone destiny.let
alone the white xb1 that is coming, The sdk improvement which bungie have hurtled the xb1 back onto the map again huge.

18k jobs gone at MS:will heavily affect xbox gaming..YES I say for the better, jobs obviously wernt being done to our satisfaction,400 million lost in fiscal year, dont believe a word of it, predicited sales are not reality money.

Im totally vocal if xbox aint doing its job, but in theclast 3 months, the huge changes on xb1 are making OUR console gr8 again, the xbox support and community of social gamers is the best around.

Have they truley liistened to what we want? Proudly now I say yes, the xb1 isnt what we bought bk in nov 2013 a shoddy depressing kick in the face put together console, now it is a gr8 social and gaming machine, with ALL the epic games just around the corner.
