If your thinking about getting an Xbox Elite controller, you'll be sorry if you dont read this ...

I just want to write something that I wish I'd have found before buying an elite controller.

Im an adult. Im very careful with my stuff. Im unfortunately physically disabled with spinal problems that makes being on my feet very painful and difficult I use to do manual labor, now im having to find a different path. Only bring that up to illustrate
im not wealthy and I spend most of the time off my feet. So I play Xbox quite a bit. It beats TV imo. So im a daily player. I was wearing out a regular controller in 6 months to a year. So I checked out an elite controller because it seemed to be made better,
it had some weight to it, felt solid. Idid the math and as long as the elite lasted almost 2 years then it would be 75 a year which is just over the price of the regular controller I was replacing once a year already at least. So if it at least lasts long
enough then it wont be 'more costly' to go with the elite. So if your able to follow that, its the reason I bought it and my overall plan. So how it actually turned out was this way.

So about 360 days ago I purchased an elite controller based on my ideas I had thought up above in the previous paragraph. Inside the first 3 weeks I had a problem with the left bumper and almost returned it outright in the store
for a refund but I had absolutely fallen in love with the elite controller. So I exchanged it for another. Heres a list of approximate times of things happening since then. Around 2 months later the rubber on both grips on the left and right started to separate
and come apart. Very slowly it spread down the seam opening it and over the next 8 months they both continued to get worse until the left one fell off and a couple weeks later the right one came off. Honestly, this didnt effect the ability of the elite and
I found it no less comfortable so I dont really care the rubber fell off but im a 'functionality is paramount' type person so i don't care how it looks. At around 6 months the left bumper broke somehow and if you turned it upside down the bumper would fall
out but not all the way because the inside side of the bumper inside near the xbox button stayed attached so the dont fall ALL the way out and it still works most of the time when I push it. A month or so later the right bumper followed suit and they are both
still like that now. They arent as reliable but are still working. Around 9 or 10 months I started getting drift upward fairly heavy at times in the left stick. The right seems ok for now. When you shake the controller you can hear little broken pieces of
I figure are plastic rattling around like a childs toy and overall it does not have that aura of a high quality accessory. It now feels like over priced under quality junk. Which is so sad because the elite controller is my favorite gaming related piece of
equipmentof all time not including the actual consoles but of all the other gaming related equipment the elite is the best. Its just to bad its entirely garbage and certain to fail in one way or another and theres no extended waranty available at all. You
cant even buy one cause they KNOW that almost everyone will have to warranty exchange it since they probably have a 80+ percent fail rate. I know personally several other ppl who bought one, 2 because I was so crazy for it telling them how great it is, and
EVERYONE. I mean every single human being that I know who has one of these controllers is dealing with some or all of the problems I just described. Shame on you Microsoft there is NO way that you dont know the likely to fail rate on these controllers and
you KNOW that they arent likely to last 6 months to a year at most which is why you dont sell an 'extended warranty' for this huh? You cant claim that $150 dollars isnt something ppl would pay 9.99 for a 12 month or 18 month extended warranty for. Its cause
you already KNOW that MOST arent going to make it a year and you'll be losing a lot of money. So if your thinking of getting one, they are great. But they will NOT last, they absolutely will have stuff go wrong and Microsoft isnt likely to make that right
for you. So buy at your own risk.
