Same problem. Very aggravating since it takes forever to load each time!

I don't get any option to reset back and the esc key just takes me to options etc. and then back to my crashed plane

You are given the option to reset back. Or you can hit escape

I've solved my own question. When you crash, hit the esc key and you'll be taken back to the screen with General, Assistance and Controls - then hit the Home key and you have the opportunity to restart the flight
