If you are having problems with your xbox after the patch, try this

Ok so im seeing alot of topics where people are being told to send in their xbox or buy a new hard drive. DONT DO THAT. Tech support also suggested these options to me after calling them. Due to not being able to sign in. I cleared my cache, deleted the
patch, cleared cache again, deleted my profile, cleared cache and eventually reformatted. Downloading the patch in between every step. It was only AFTER i called again and specifically asked if there was a problem with the patch. Dude said there is, and that
it SHOULD be fixed today. So dont go buy a hard drive because thats what i was told to do, and if i had, it still wuldnt work.

Sorry, i know this isnt a fix, but try starting ur xbox without your storage device attached. If it works, then, attach ur storage. This will let u bypass the sign in screen where alot of ppl are freezing. Then u can access ur device and remove the patch.
U wont be able to connect to live (or therefore do anything online) but at least u can play ur offline games til when they fix this

Transferring hard drives

Hey,

Have you tried using a different USB port? also did u connect the kit before you turned on your xbox or after if you did this before please try connecting it after you are signed into xbox live. If your still having problems please contact xbox support directly
or try using a USB drive (if you have one).

 

Multiplayertest is ok, but something is wrong

so just did a multiplayertest again after hard reset modem.

Everything is fine

But there are problems with your connection doe multiplayer. If you keep having problems, try to renew your nat.

 

Also, i know for certain that the problem ia in the patch, because the ONLY data i have on my storage device is the system update itself. I start the xbox without it, it acts fine. But if i put the device in an attempt to access xbox live, the cycle repeats
itself

 

Update: the patch actually MAY have cost u a hard drive. After attempting to remove the patch, upon restarting (aa the xbox does automatically) i get a strange error message from my tv.. So it IS the patch, but wether or not theyll be able to undo this,
i dunno

 

What patch are you referring to? The latest dashboard update on April 30th?

 

I think he is talking about the latest major update to the xbox 360 OS.

another thing to try is:

Reset XBOX 360 Failed System Updates

With the console off, press and hold the sync up button.

While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console

Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.

During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

Tried all that. Download on USB, download on disc, boot with button pressed, formatted, stand on head and recite alphabet backwards, tried transfer cable connected to pc. Nothing. My hard drive is stuffed. Bought a USB stick and configured as system storage
to get the thing working eventually.

 

still looking for a official response this problem is still not fixed.

There will not be a patch out to fix any issues related to update issues. The only steps you should take are the ones listed in the article I linked to above. While for most it does seem that the update caused the issue for you, it's likely that your hard
drive was failing before and this was the last thing that triggered it.
