If true, does Microsoft really need Mojang?

I am not sure what added value other than $ Mojang will bring to Xbox, IMO and if the rumor is true, the money could be well spent somewhere else, like a studio who can offer exclusive games that MS is missing like Action Adventure ones.

MS is spending a lot of money but i fear its not in the right place, take for example all the advertisement $$ they wasted, and it didn't give them any return, if this money was spent on a R&D to develop a stronger HW or a smaller optimized one, it would
have done them better than the useless advertisement that Major Nelson does

MS is worth billions... and they are their own company.. I do not think this will affect you or any other gamer in any way what so ever... not like they are saying internally.. yanno... we need 2B to buy this company...scrap that baseball game we have
in dev so we can afford it.. even though Minecraft is the best selling game in the last 4 years...

 

even if they have billions, they have limited budget for Acquisition same as for anything else for every department.

Affect me personally off-course not, but money could be well spent somewhere else on better IPs.

true Minecraft sold a lot so they are after the $ but they are not after games that generate less $ but provide different value for gamers

 

Like I said... purchasing a company for a couple billion will not have ANY affect on how MS operates.. it is not like how you or I might have to cut back on the chips and cakes if we bought a new car

 

Not sure why they want to buy Mojang. Notch has said he would help with the transition then part ways. And with home goes the guy with all the creativity (I use the term loosely as he really only has one good game under his belt and has since hit a creative
wall).
