If the One is going to allow mods, what does that mean for the 360?

Sorry for the tangential question but with backward compatibility here it is something worth raising.

We'll be able to use mods in Fallout 4 this has been confirmed.

So how are they going to continue to make it acceptable to ban people who use mods on the 360?

How for example is using a infinite money mod for Fallout 4 (and you know it'll happen) any different than modding a save for Fallout 3 for the same thing on the 360 (but played on the One)?

Yes I know the TOU and CoC. But that is kind of my point. With modding becoming acceptable on the One, shouldn't the same thing be happening for the previous generation?

This is going to be the important factor, mods aren't anywhere near as cool if you limit them...

Are they going to allow custom textures? mods that tweak the code? mods that just allow you to cheat for achievements? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Wow thanks guys, thats answered a lot. But if the Didact is dead does this mean that forerunners are no longer a threat?

I mean if one survived can we assume that their are more? if not, who's the next fight going to be with?

Also what does "reclaimer" mean?

 

I'm fairly certain the mods that will be made available will be "approved" by either MS, the publisher, the dev, or a combination of all of the above before being added. For example, you probably won't see any nude mods become available as it would breach
the CoC. Furthermore, I'm fairly certain that mods that break the game (like the infinite money mod that you mentioned) will NOT be approved for the same reasons. More than likely, most of them will probably just be for appearances, kind of like the different
skins you can use in Minecraft Xbox One and Xbox 360 Editions.

In other words, it's typical DLC, but (likely) free and made by the community.

 

That's a good point GG, I hadn't considered adult mods. I still have nightmares about some of those for Dragon Age: Origins.

Does kind of kill the point of them though if they have to be approved. Makes them essentially official content.

 

Many may disagree with me, but I actually PREFER that. It means we'll (almost) always get guaranteed quality content and not some glitchy mess that ruins the whole game (and your saves).

I'm thinking the word "mod" is a way to get all the kiddies to buy DLC..... it's what the cool kids say...

 

The mods would be game specific, probably though bethesdanet (Or whatever they are calling it.), and more than likely come with a disclaimer along the lines of,"Use at your own risk.". Using non approved mods on the system or games would still result in
a ban. That's my take anyway.

 

Like I said in a previous thread, it's just another way to keep the content fresh and flowing into Fallout 4, I mean Bethesda are awesome at what they do, but they can't have all the best ideas. You always here how games like GTAIV for example are being
kept alive by mods on the PC so theoretically it could work for Fallout 4.

I think Left 4 Dead is another good example, all the community created content kept that going for ages (also that it was an awesome game, haha), not sure if the community has died now though.

 

Won't Fallout 4 be a single player game? Most of the unauthorised mods people use on the 360 affect and ruin multiplayer games. If you are playing by yourself who are you upsetting?

 

Easy. Mods and cheats were available on Fallout 3 on PC even when it was a GFW title. If you enabled a cheat or used a Mod any achiements for the 'vanilla' un-modded/cheated game wouldn't unlock. This is fine for single player as Fallout 4 will be. It
only becomes an issue in multiplayer based games
