If MS gave you 10% back on traded-in digital games would you be happy?

Why factor in a controller? You own a Xbox One and so there is a pretty good chance that you have a controller for it.
The One controller works on the PC.

You can get a decent keyboard and mouse combination for £10.

Min specs are not 100% accurate. As I showed you above with the video of Tomb Raider, Intel graphics aren't even supported and yet they can play the game just fine.

Forgive me for saying so but you seem to be looking for a reasons not to like PC gaming now that it isn't the expense you thought it was. That's fine and I really can't add anything more to change your mind.

My intention was never to knock console gaming. Just to show that PC gaming isn't as costly as you thought it was.

 

If you spent a little more (£30ish) on a 4gb 960, overclocked it with afterburner, you basically have a cheap 970.

 

@Quench, they aren't the same thing, if your buying something for yourself you will make allowances, if you had to give away £500 back in 5 years if it didn't do as you said its a whole different story.

If your buying a £500 PC, it would be instead of a console not as well as, so you would have to factor in all elements, plus everytime you attach a controller to a device it assigns itself to that device and unassigns it from the other device, so I would
use the same one on both.

(when i said a £500, I did mean out of the box, and although I will discuss buying a parts, overclocking and the like I won't )

I am not knocking PC gaming (if you can point out where I am your more than welcome to, IMO its called a dicussion, but you have no proof that system will work in 5 years), I simply don't believe that a £500 PC will be able to guarantee I play new releases
in 5 years. And since your admitting its not an exact science (in your min spec info), I doubt I will change my mind, unless (and I don't expect you to) you can show me a 5 year old system that costs £500 at the time that will run the division?

Lets say AR takes off on PC and games are made to work with AR, will that setup work in 5 years? and yes your right theres no reason the xbox will either.

Min specs are a way for developers to offer information to users

 

@enen your looking at the specs far too literally, there's rarely absolute's, that 5750 in my 7 year old system will run ghosts at the same resolution as the x1, if your around the minimum requirements you should have a playable experience aslong as you
accept the fact it wont look to pretty, which if your happy with the x1 it wont bother you.

Multiplats are always built to accommodate the lowest common denominator which is console, hell ubisoft promised not to gimp the pc version of the division yet it still runs on budget cards that are only slightly more powerful than the x1, the 960 gtx quench
suggested has nearly twice the grunt of the x1 and the closest equivalent cpu is the a10 6800k which the i5 he suggested crushes, using common sense alone you should be able to see it doesn't make sense, why wouldn't it last 5 years.

 

Sorry Jambo, but I am not about to risk £500 because it may or may not work in 5 years, min specs no matter how inaccurate are a way to gauge them, why would a publisher over inflate min specs when they would get more sales if it will work on lower specs?

Also I didn't mention multi plats, I would want to run anything that was on PC, I don't want to buy a PC and play xbox games I can do that for less buy buying a console, I want to play PC games as well why wouldn't I.

 

I never said it would play the division, but again your talking about a 7 year old card, the point being because the hardware is old or unsupported doesn't mean it wont run it.

If you want to play the latest pc titles with all the eye candy then yeah your going to have to pay but you get your money's worth considering my current gaming rig has about 10 times the performance of the current gen and will remain relevant for a long
time.

If your happy with console level of performance though it is cheaper, and the more games you go through the cheaper vs console it gets.

Now don't get me wrong I love my consoles but I own them for two reasons, I have a son on each platform and exclusives although Microsoft have just x'd themselves out of that one.

 

I don't know why I bother discussing things with you, the discussion is about a £500 PC running PC games in 5 years, thats all new games launch in 5 years from purchase, I haven't mentioned specs, you have added nothing with any evidence which backs up your
claims that it will, and when I offer some for my side I am excepted to take your word, when we had a discussion you claimed your opinion fact with on a very limited knowledge if even that on the subject.

 

I give you not one that two PC builds that will play games, for around your budget, for five years. The problem is Enen that you keep shifting the goalposts.

There are no guarantees in this life. You bought a Xbox One with no guarantee that it would be a success but expect me to somehow give you absolute assurances? You don't want them from Microsoft but somehow want me to provide them.

Consoles are a great way to play games. You don't need to keep coming up with reasons for wanting to stay console only.

After reading several times the title thread and use different way to translate it in 10 different human languages....It seems that it's about trade digital games on Xbox one.....

 

No one can give you a cast iron guarantee, the builds you have been given will play the vast majority of games over the next 5 years but there's bound to be something you cant play and you wont be playing them on console either so I fail to see your point.

As for proof what exactly do you want? Pretty much everything posted is easily fact checked on the assumption you can use a search engine, a simple trip to youtube will show you lesser cards than the 5750 playing ghosts if that's what your after.

I have no idea what the second part of your post is supposed to mean lol.
