If MS gave you 10% back on traded-in digital games would you be happy?

If I could stack games (multiple on trade)... them maybe. But really the uninstalled games aint hurting anything, its almost comforting to know they are there, just in case...

 

I'd prefer if they first started pricing the digital games like physical games are priced. After that I might be interested in the 10% trade in talks.

 

That's one of the advantages of Physical game copies. You can easily trade or sell them if and when you don't want it. 10% is peanuts. Physical games you get the case and disc. Can share the disc on any console with friends etc. No large game file to download
off Xbox Live. And if your account gets banned, your physical copy is yours and still fully functional. Digital is subject to usage restrictions fact. Physical versions not so much. But Digital has convenience. There's no need to leave your home to get the
game. You work hard for your money so you expect it to work hard for you. And 10% just doesn't cut it. Maybe 20% would be ok.

 

Even EB Games offers well over 10% for physical games traded in usually about 15-30% or so maybe more sometimes like 10% for really old titles.

 

What you could do is get one of those Games With Gold. Then when Microsoft puts it back to normal RRP.... excuse me Microsoft.... I'd like to trade this game with your 10% deal. Fine, here's $4-$20 that's 10% of this game. Sweet....

 

@enen ofcourse it will stay play games in 5 years, if you mean the latest and greatest pc titles then sure you wont be able to but games that release on console in all likelihood will still run aslong as your willing to make the same compromises that devs
make for you on console.

I have a 6-7 year old fairly budget system e3300/5750 and it still runs plenty of games, one notable example is Diablo 3 it runs it maxed out at 1080 with pc mob density, something the current gen couldn't achieve.

Now I know that goes over the budget of £500 but I choose to go with a full size ATX motherboard which will provide some more opportunity to upgrade in the future should you want to. Go down to a mini-ATX board and it would come in under your budget.

If you wanted that then swap out the CPU and motherboard bundle there for a AMD FX-6300 and a Gigabyte Z98LMT. Both choices support USB 3.0.

Sorry about the site before Enen, should have checked it over more closely, they are usually much more reliable for the budget.

Anyway what I’ve listed above will run games now and in five years time, though of course you’ll be lowering your settings as things improve.

@Quench I also doubt a GTX960 will last 5 years from now, will it even run the division at the same settings as a console now? (thats without even thinking about the processor and ram)

 

If it runs on the x1 in 5 years, chances are it will run on that budget build aslong as your willing to play it at the consoles level of performance, sub 1080 sub 30 fps etc.

Your looking at sub £100 graphics cards to run the division at current gen quality gtx 560.

 

It will run the game at 1080p at High to Ultra Settings.
You won't be hitting frame rates of over 60 but it will perform very well.

I could have picked a more powerful card, an older one to keep in the budget, but I went for something that is DirectX12 compatible, so that of course will help with performance in future titles. Go down to the mini-ATX board I offered as an alternate though
and put the difference into the card and you could get a GTX970.

To be honest though unless you are a resolution and frame rate obsessive (more I need more), the GTX960 is a very good choice for 1080p/60FPS gaming.

 

Its a step in the right direction for digital, but at 10% will hold no sway. I bought plants vs zomies 2 digitally last friday for £49.50, i would not give up my licence to play it for £4.95 (i intended on getting the disc but it never arrived and i went
for digital, should of popped to the local Tesco but i never thought about it at the time). i prefer discs as they offer the best value for me and only buy digital if its not out on disc or has an attractive sale price, only on the odd occasion will i buy
a full release digitally.

 

@Quench, the 960 doesn't even hit recommended spec, although it does min, however looking the recommended requirements for COD ghost (which I doubt would be £500 at the time) won't run the division now, the gfx card might but the processor won't

@Rambo, developers develop for under speced consoles, they don't develop games for older pc's

 

I'm 100% positive the Processor will run the game now. The reason being I have both the motherboards and processors I've recommended. The Intel in my gaming desktop (with a GTX 970) and the AMD in my Media Streamer (with a GTX 760).

Since the AMD/760 combo can run the Division at a reasonable 30fps at High, yes I would be willing to put my money on the set-up(s) I've recommended playing games in 2021. You'll likely be on Medium to Low at that point but they'll be running well.

As you mention developers code for consoles, which means PC specs don't jump like most people think.

Plus to be honest I wouldn't trust the recommended specs of games. After all you can run more titles than you think on integrated graphics. Here is Tomb Raider 2013 on Intel HD 4000

You actually haven't added any input devices so thats another £36 for a controller and £20 for a cheap keyboard and mouse.

And while I agree they don't jump as much as they could, technology is also changing at a rate, and developing also changes so who knows. There is a possibly spec will no longer be an issue anyway.

Also min specs are always accurate, getting smooth game play often higher specs are needed.

 

@ enen I'm well aware of how games run on old hardware I've been gaming on pc for years.

And the division will play on a 1gb gtx 560 @1080 40ish fps on low, which is below the minimum requirements ( they ask for a 2gb card) which is about what the current gen run it at considering they don't match up to medium settings.

So no, the min requirements aren't always accurate.
