If I stop sharing Gold, what happens to my free games?

So, I live with my partner at the moment and though we both have well-tenured Gold accounts, we started sharing when we consolidated to one home console so we could both have access to each other's library.

At the moment, when I go in to claim my free Gold games each month, there is not an option for me to claim it if he has already done so--it just has the option to Play it, as though it has already been claimed and downloaded.

If we split up and stop sharing Gold at some point down the track, will I Iose all the free Gold games that I didn't get to click "claim" for myself?

I just want to stop sharing my xbox live gold membership with other profiles in my xbox one.

Past days I saw the option for stop sharing gold but I cant find it again.

Anyone knows how to?

 

When sharing an Xbox, I can no longer own the new free Xbox gold games.

I share my xbox account with my brother. The new update (october 2018) has removed the option to own the free xbox live game if he owns it first. The sharing option on the game menu is a nice addition, but removing the option for me to own the game (for
free) as well and not just him is bad, because what happens when we stop sharing.

 

As verified by the xbox live support: Only the profile that claimed the games while sharing the same home will keep the free games with gold.

 

Ugh. I was afraid of that. Thank you for the information. Is there any way for two accounts to claim the same game, or should we just turn off sharing?

 

To elaborate what King Cane said. You can claim the free games with gold online through the website. This way, your account will get the license as well.

 

Another option is to claim them through the Smartglass app if you have it.
