If I pay full price for a new xbox one x, can I upgrade it to Scarlett for free when it releases?

Unfortunately it does not sound as if you'd qualify for this if you paid outright for your console. As my fellow ambassadors have said you might be able if you have all access pass.

I would assume that it holds a higher form of trade in value.

AFAIK like the others have said the pass is the only way. Otherwise I would look to trade ot on to a store or sell it online to cover the difference.

The offer is, I believe, purposefully vague about how much a Scarlett will cost. Nobody knows how much it will cost so they can't tell us for sure how much they will ask for. All that is guaranteed is at least two years of a credit agreement to get
the chance to upgrade.

The free upgrade to Scarlet is only available if you use the
Xbox All Access subscription offer. That is a pay monthly deal without the option to pay full. You may be able to pay off the interest free credit in full as soon as it going but you would need to check with the credit provider. Buying the Xbox outright
doesn't allow for the free upgrade. I have been looking into this myself as my Xbox One is a Day One Edition which is now 5 years old, so looking to upgrade.
