    I am thinking about trying the deal on xbox that says, join gamepass ultimate for $1. I already have Xbox Gold. I simply want to try gamepass ultimate and am not sure if i want to commit to the subscription. But i've read that if i join gamepass ultimate
    it will convert all remaining time of my Gold membership to gamepass ultimate. And it also states that all conversions are final. I may just be a bit confused but it seems like if i cancel my subscription to gamepass ultimate, it will mean i lose my Gold too.

    LOST MY XBOX LIVE GOLD 😡I purchased a year of Xbox live gold as I do every year, then decided to get the game pass. Few months later I decided to delete the game pass and doing so has deleted my Xbox live gold subscription even though I already paid for this year
    When you already have xbox live gold and upgrade to gamepass ultimate it converts your remaining Xbox live membership time to gamepass ultimate (i could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it warns you about this when you upgrade)

    So when you cancelled your gamepass ultimate you essentially cancelled both of them since ultimate includes your xbox live membership all under one umbrella.

    Youd have to request a callback from support and see if there is anything they can do. Theres no guarantee that there is but youd have to speak with them to find out.

    Yes, since your Gold is converted to Ultimate, if you cancel Ultimate you cancel any remaining time on your subscription. If you do decide to buy the deal, it would be better to just turn off auto-renewal and keep the subscription until it runs out, then
    just buy a regular Gold subscription if you want to go back.

    It's "free" until the converted time runs out. So for example, if you had 12 months of Gold and you purchased 1 month of Ultimate, you would have 13 months of Ultimate until the subscription runs out.

    Ok, then if i decide to not cancel the subscription, do i have to pay for ultimate monthly after the three months, or is it "free" until the converted xbox gold membership's remaining time runs out?

    No you don't need to cancel the subscription, you will simply need to wait the natural expiration.

    From what you have written I think that you have a Gamepass Ultimate (which already includes all Gold benefits), therefore your only way to have only an active gold is this:

    - cancel the recurring billing for Gamepass Ultimate (already done)

    - wait until the natural expiration of Gamepass Ultimate

    - Buy a Gold Membership Card or activate the gold subscription on the xbox store

    Unfortunately there is no way to make a direct downgrade from Gamepass Ultimate to Gold
