IE App - Circumventing Parental Controls

I'm trying to make the Internet Explorer app completely inaccessible from my XBOX 360. I've been able to restrict unrated content and make the IE app inaccessible from the home screen and from the My Apps menu, but the problem is that it is still accessible
if I try and search for games or music or videos with IE. It provides an indirect path to access IE and will not block it.

For example, if I select the option to Browse for Games, and I type "a" in the search bar, I will receive the option to "Search Internet Explorer for games titled 'a'". If I select this option, the system will not detect that I have blocked IE in my family
settings. It will download the IE app and search Bing for 'a'.

    :)

Unfortunately there is no way to change the age on the account. This is to protect children from circumventing the parental controls. Sorry.

  4. IE App - Circumventing Parental Controls

Hey there, SoonerWolf08! This is a bit odd. I checked out a profile here with the unrated items blocked on it and was unable to launch up a search doing the exact steps that you stated in your example.

The only difference I can think of is that the app was already downloaded on the test console. Even though it was already on the console, I got an error when I tried launching it up saying, "Web browsing is blocked for this profile". I received the same error
when I did a Game search for 'a' and selected "Search Internet Explorer for games titled 'a'".

Try to do your steps again but with the IE App already installed on the console, and let me know how that goes. We want to make sure that the settings are working as intended for you. IE App - Circumventing Parental Controls :)

Hello, thanks for replying. So some slight misunderstanding here. So rather than using the privacy settings to turn web browsing on or off, I am blocking the IE app from the family settings. I want to force it to ask for the 4 digit passcode to enter IE.
Turning web browsing off wouldn't suffice since it could be turned on and off without the passcode.

If I try to access IE from the My Apps Menu, it will ask for the 4-digit passcode. If I attempt to access IE from a search bar on one of the other menus, then it does not require a passcode. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I have family settings setup to where it prompts for the four digit code before using IE. But if I search for say, "ABC" it'll come up with an option to search using IE. And bam... instant unaccountable internet access.

    Can you please fix this?
