Idle bandwidth usage

Hello all. I have a question. Before the recent update (Dec 12th) I could sign in to Xbox Live and play a game without chatting or streaming music, playing only, and use about 400-600KB of bandwidth per hour. Now I'm using anywhere from 15 to 50MB per
hour. This may not seem like a big problem but I use my wireless data for my Xbox connection. This is a significant jump for the total data I use in a month. My question is this, did they incorporate a new feature that has some kind of background activity?
Also if they did is there any way to deactivate it. Thanks for the help.

I realize there are some apps and things that may update or passively access the internet in the background but those usually do their thing and quit but since the update their is a constant usage of 25+ MB per hour where it used to be in the hundreds
of KB. It was like a switch that was flipped, but according to the update notes I don't see anything that would cause a higher bandwidth draw. Just wondering if there's something I can do to reduce this.

Well, your xbox performs updates to the OS, the apps of the spile, memory levels, etc., even the search without the actual download required data volume. it may also be that, depending on the game, certain game components need to be updated or reloaded.

Hello Miss Errnine,

Actually, the biggest bandwidth leak (4.5 GB in 6 hours) happened when the console was totally idle as I forgot to shut it down when I left for work. I have been playing multiplayer online games on xbox for years and the bandwidth usage has never even been
close to that.

I am really at a loss.
