Identifying an old xbox account

Hey.

I used to own an Xbox One (the "old" one). It's now long gone but I am planning to get a new one soon.

Now, on the old Xbox I use to have a good bunch of purchased games. I would like to use the same account on the new Xbox to keep my old games but...

I forgot the email address I used with the old Xbox. So I am unable to initialize the password recovery routine. The only proof I have that I was actually using that Xbox are game purchase transactions on my Visa card.

Is there any way to retrieve that email address associated with the old Xbox account if all I know are Visa transactions for it?

If I know the email address, I should be able to initiate the password recovery routine and that would be it. But without that email, I have no clue what to do.

Any hints?

They can as long as they can verify the ownership of the email.

Unfortunately Xbox can not hand out emails to people.

This could be used to gain access to other people's accounts.

OK that's a good start. *I think* I remember my old gamer tag. Will give it a shot.

The Visa is still active so in case the tag I remember is wrong, I may still be able to work it out.

If you know the gamer tag for the account you can contact xbox support by going to support.xbox.com/contact-us and give them the gamertag and if they can verify ownership of the account they can give you the email associated with it.

If you do not remember the gamertag and the credit/debit card is still active as a payment option on the account they can also search with the card number and it will bring up ALL accounts that the card is on and if they can verify ownership of the account
they can give you the email associated with it.

How they verify ownership is by sending either an email or a text to any email or phone number on the account with a verification code that they put into the account. They will not be able to see the email or phone number that it is sent to it just has them
hit a button and it sends it out to whatever is currently on the account. Once you receive the email and/or text you would give them the code and they would then have access to see your account information.

fixed it i had to go to the xbox profile identifier folder in my appdate local folders and delete the old account and cache folders as it was trying to use the old files once deleted signed in immediately.
