Ideas to put Microsoft ahead of sony

Since the badmins in this forum keep following me around and deleting my posts, I'm going to continue posting this.

The PS4 and X1 run identically gamingwise. Anyone who says differently is an obvious fanboy.

They might run games identically but the PS4 does have the slight advantage. The biggest one for me is the Install times PS4 usually will install in 2 to 3 minutes tops and download updates while you play the game.

I've experienced hour plus installs on X1.

PS4 has higher native resolutions on some games (that that it really makes much of a difference but still)

And thats coming from a MS fan for years, and owns both consoles.

 

OP-Not sure what you meant in the title of this thread.You want them to add more power or just add overall value to the console by adding new features?

 

I can tell you easily what can put them ahead. First up ditch the Kinect and make it optional. I loved the original Kinect, but this one is useless unless you love Skype, dance, or fitness games. The single game worth getting (Kinect Sports Rivals) isn't
even out yet. The voice and motion commands on the thing are a joke and using the control pad is easier. Second would be to sell a 500 GB version for $350, and a 2 TB version for $400. Im confident that this would put them ahead. As it is their system is not
as powerful, cost $100 more and includes a device few want. Microsoft sadly seems blind to this.

Also, keeping your existing fanbase happy is just as important as making new fans. Sony fully knows how to do this. Just look at Playstation Plus. Its cheaper then Live and gives you a lot more for your money. Microsoft needs to take note of this as their
clueless to this as well. Take for example the recent price cut of $50 off and a free game. This is a total slap in the face to people who just bought the system a few months back. Yes I know its not an official price cut. However its pretty obvious to me
that MS is testing the waters to see if it would help them sell more.

Stuff similar to Sony's crossbuy promos would be a great option for making people happy too. Buy the game on one platform like 360, then get it for W8, and XBox One at no extra cost. I'll tell you, this sure gets me buying more games on my PS3 knowing I
can also get the Vita version and often the PS4 version too. I just bought a PS4 yesterday and let me tell you, it felt damn good to download Zen Pinball and get all the tables I already paid for on PS3 for free. Yes this promo doesn't run on all games, but
im a lot more likely to buy one that has it.

 

Both are great consoles, they both have there flaws and issues and both of them pros and cons we should just leave it at that.

 

You should buy the PS4 and never look back...

Xbox 360 is a great console and im still enjoying it i don't know why they messed up so bad with the XB1.

 

Gamerscore matters to those who feel it matters. To me it is merely a score measuring quantity of games played and how much time was spent pursuing additional achievements. Since there is a cap on Gamerscore for individual titles, that's how I view it...
having a lot of played games. Not necessarily a bad thing but for those who got free Xbox Ones for their Gamerscore being so high the question is... how many Xbox Ones did you buy purchasing the games to get that score?

Not saying anything by this I just think that the value of Gamerscore varies by the individual... some people are "one-game" online players who could care less and are more interested in leaderboards, others may be hardcore single player gamers who move
on to the next one when one game is complete for more achievements, and then there are plenty of levels of in-between. It is certainly not something to dump a ton of money into with the intention of getting something for free as there is a huge expense for
getting a 6-digit Gamerscore, but if it was something you enjoyed doing and incurred bonuses along the way, more power to you.

I think achievements/Gamerscore just allow for a different method of gaming, and Gamerscore reflects a particular style of gaming. I know it wasn't the topic of the discussion but it definitely went there pretty quickly in this thread.

In terms of competition, if either Sony or Microsoft's console division went under and was abandoned, the one that won would become a monster.... you would have the initial version of the X1 to an extreme, and in a way that would completely alienate gamers
because they could get away with it. So, something to think about.

Hmm when the X1 was announced it was to be digital only. Im pretty sure a press release stated they reversed this decision based on what the consumers wanted. The price of the content reflects what consumers want or are willing to spend ie the price drop
on Thief already and the $449 bundle so soon after launch.

Wait, the PS4 is faster because it doesn't have a Kinect? That's the reason? I'm sure the OP was hoping someone would agree and say yes, that's the reason.
