Ideas For A Better Forum!

So these forums could actually use a few updates imo. (not a new idea obviously) Anyways, after seeing a few "necro" threads pop up recently, I started to think... (it didn't hurt too bad.) I was wondering why the forums
needed to keep all zillion threads ever made archived. Ok, I can understand the uses old threads could have, after all they do have that awesome search one can use to find answers, etc.

With that said, I was thinking, maybe after some pre-determined time (a month, 2 months, whatever), if old inactive threads could be kinda "auto locked", then we wouldn't have to see some thread resurface from 2013 (or
any other year). I'm not always good at putting into words what I mean (anyone having read some of my threads understand this. lol) but if anything I just said made sense, I kinda thought it would be a good idea to eliminate those "necro" threads.

Anyways, who has some more ideas that could improve these forums?

Vampirella understands this will probably never happen, but she thought she'd throw it out there anyways. She actually thinks the thread will end up locked... which means it will never be "necroed" at least.

Unnecessary in my opinion, its not like 25 old threads are being bumped a day. You can deal with one every so often.

 

Instead of worrying about necro threads, just make the forums stable and reliable....

 

or better yet show of our achievements next to our name like on the ps forums add colour

 

Some old threads are interesting , as you can see how the events turned out .

Ie ..

Gamesharing and online only , I was totaly blasted by forum regulars and bombarded with M/s quotes about how it will , and is happening , when my only retort was " It will never happen " .... I had a big grin with that one .

Other honourable mention goes to ... live should have Internet Explorer ... Lost Kause was well against that one , as I remember , it went to over 300 posts .

Not on this tag obviously ...lolz.

 

I would add some color around here even if it is a game advert on the side on a few different pages as you are navigating the sub-forums. I'd take away the function where you have to put in notes as to why you've edited your post. That's unnecessary. Make
the time to edit them longer.

Make the search function work properly because the way it is now is atrocious. Add our X-ONE games played to our games played list. Add more sub-forums. Make it easier for new people to the site to find them. Allow us to post pictures again. Add a post count
under our gamercards or a forum tenure or LIVE tenure.

At least they've fixed the quoting mess.

 

Dump Telligent and make their own.

Necro threads are not an issue. Stop allowing pointless threads that will never lead to anything.

Update gamercards or just get rid of them.

Allow pics back in user sigs at least.

Allow users to pick what shows in their post history, in case they want to remove old threads on their one.

I have a bigger list but I don't want to get myself in any trouble for talking about things I might know from the past.

 

Make [quote user=""]quoting[/quote]easier and more accessible again.

 

Also, as bran said, COLOR helps.

 

On the thread listings, you could add the page numbers below the thread name and creator so that we can skip directly to certain pages.

Even better, the small amount of space that takes up, you could do multiple tiles side by side going left to right and then down using columns and rows like a table so you can fit far more threads onto one page.
