Idea for Xbox dashboard ADS & Commercials

Sorry if this is too long, there’s a TLDR at the end

So, there’s 3 types of people from what I usually see when posts about ads are posted:

No ads on dashboard

Don’t mind them

Don’t mind useful and relevant ads, but remove irrelevant ads such as vehicle commercials

The idea and solution I propose

Move the ads and commercials to a new page inside the store called "Home".

When a user boots up the store app, they will be greeted to a home page customized to their previous purchases, interests and recommended. This would also be a great spot for ads as it is only fitting that a store is showing you ads for stuff that you may be interested in checking out.

Why?

Moving the ads from the dashboard completely to the store I believe would make sense in a way that when a user is on their dashboard they are usually looking to get back into their game, opening a previous app, looking at recently played or trying to get to my games and apps. This would also clear up more space for either more tiles or more viewing space for our wallpapers

Contrast to when a user is at the store, they are looking for something new to buy, something new to see, I would say they are in “buy mode”, so they are more inclined to wait an extra second and look at ads, maybe it’s a new game, maybe it’s a new movie. Being in the store would also give new opportunity for new types of ads where instead of still pictures, a snippet of video is played upon selection or hover followed by a still picture showcasing product

TLDR

Move ads to store instead of dashboard to keep both people who like ads and hate ads happy. And it makes more sense since a store is where you want to look out for new things and customers are more inclined to take extra second to look at ads

Well you dont have to look at the ads if you are not staring at the dashboard. and there is only like 5 LITTLE ads on the dashboard

There is NO way to remove ADS from The Xbox 360 Dashboard.

It's not people complaining about just ads existing. It's the uprising exposure of them. You cannot say that the exposure of ads did not increase on every refresh of the dashboard. We started with the blades where there were minimal ads at best. Then NXE
came, more ads are introduced, but they are at least isolated because all the console functions are under "My Xbox". And now not only the ads are jammed everywhere you go, it takes up bigger tiles, while all the actual functions are pushed to the sides. And
yes, even if it's game/music/movie related, it is still advertisement. and the dashboard is like a billboard.

Long story short, you can't blame people for complaining. The new dashboard gets the work done in it's own right, but it's a disgrace to the Metro design language. Where zero customization is allowed.

Agreed. The cost of Xbox LIVE has always been overinflated and the ads are there strictly to generate additional revenue, not to make up for a shortfall.

I just watched the video showing how the commercial works and almost forgot these are not going to be new ads If they incorprate the tv streaming even with hulu they are alreafdy commercial so why those commercials are rolling you have the option to interact

Really? Cause on dashboard, I'm counting fully SIX ads, just on "Home."

Giant add for the Borderlands DLC taking up most of the space

2 smaller ads for "Awesome Arcade Deals" and trailers for the new Ninja Turtles game

Then 3 more ads stacked on the right, which are for preordering the new Xbox, some Madden preorder bonuses, and then an actual commercial for some stupid little gizmo.

And then lets not even get into the 6 ads on Games tab, 6 ads on TV and Movies, 7 ads on Music, and 9 ads on the Apps tab.

with your actual games and Xbox menus being crammed to the side on the left.
