IDARB February X1 Games with Gold

try to be witty lol alright you got me, but still. I was asking because I wanted to know here, not from google. to be honest, i don't even have access to google, only the xbox.com website. weird

 

Sorry, but IDARB looks really stupid. I watched some gameplay videos and now I wish I could get that part of my life back. I hope the rest of you guys enjoy it.

Agree brand.... I will download it and give it a try, nothing to lose... but it looks like it worth what we are paying for it..

 

I like the game a lot, but it's missing one important feature.

The gameplay mechanics are pretty simple. There's a 2D playing field with a goal at each end. There's a bunch of platforms that you can jump on, some of which you can jump through from underneath. The idea is to grab a ball and either throw or run it into
the opponent's goal. If you run the ball into the goal you get 1 point, but you score a higher number of points if you're further away from the goal and you throw it, as well as if you bounce the ball off a wall. You can tackle other players to dislodge the
ball from their grip, and you can pass the ball to other players on your team.

Each game is split into 4 quarters. At half time you play a mini-game, and there seem to be a few different ones, such as an Asteroids-type game where you have a little spaceship and you have to try and blow up your opponent's ship, or one where you have
to wobble the right stick left and right as fast as you can to make a guy run down a track.

The game is actually good fun to play. It feels really good when you score a goal from far away, or when you tackle an opponent or block a shot right at the last minute, and it can get quite hectic even with just 2 players. The risk/reward idea of giving
you more points for trickier goals is a good idea, as you can score up to 15 points for a single goal, but it's much harder to pull off than just running it into the goal or throwing it in from a short distance away for 2 or 3 points. There's more to it than
I've mentioned, but those are the basic game mechanics.

It has online and local play for up to 8 players, but what lets the game down is the way online matchmaking works. Basically, you can only play 1 Xbox Vs. 1 Xbox. For example, if I have a friend over and we go to play online, it'll be me and my friend (so
a team of 2) against another team of 2. That means that if you're home alone, you can only ever play 1 Vs. 1 online. There's no way to have 8 players all on different Xboxes playing 4 Vs. 4, which is what the game really needs. While it's still fun playing
1 Vs. 1, I don't think that has a lot of longevity simply because with a team you can have one guy acting as the goalkeeper and you can pass the ball around and stuff. As for local play, it would be a ton of fun with 8 players all in the same room, but how
many people are actually going to get to play it like that?

I saw a tweet from one of the devs that said that more stuff will be added to the game, including improving the matchmaking options, so if they can make it true 8 player online rather than Xbox Vs. Xbox I think it'll be a great game. As it is now, unless
you have a bunch of friends to play with locally, playing it 1 Vs. 1 online is not going to hold your interest for all that long IMO, which is a shame as it could have built up a decent sized community given that it's free with Gold and it's a small download.

 

You forgot to mention the [tag:bombs].

So in an online game if you have them enabled people watching the game if your streaming can send [tag:bombs] via Twitter that change things in the playing field. So it actually an interactive spectator game also.

 

yoiu cant do 4v4 online? Seems like they missed a trick there, i will que it up. Whether it ever gets downloaded tho is another matter.

 

Yea I'm really hoping they add 4v4 online. 1v1 online is okay but it would be way better with 4v4. I really like this game and hope they add more to it over time.

You can, but the only way to do it is to have 4 people playing on one console locally, then you'll be matched up with another team of 4 who are playing locally somewhere else. There's no way to have 8 players playing at the same time, all on different Xbox
Ones, which is what the game really needs. Hopefully they patch that in.

 

For those of you who have only watched clips, you're missing out. This game is hella fun and no video is going to do it justice.

 

OMFG [tag:IDARB], WTF is MS thinking about giving this as a reward? they should pay me to install this game. seriously game play fails, lags like a mofo and its only 1v1 WTH. I seriously want compensation for my lost time installing and play this so called
game. Next-gen console with these as a reward, 360 has more better games every month then X1 has had. Come on MS, lets get some descent GWG on X1.

 

Its like a crazy mash up of pong/basketball/soccer/hockey/bomberman/and the original mario bros arcade game (before mario became super). Ive only played the single player career so far and Ive had fun with it. Truth be told i'm mildly addicted to the song
creator/editor.I just wish you could make longer songs.
