    I have an Xbox One S connected via USB to the controller that it came with, and a wired headset that I often connect to the controller. In settings --> display & sound --> audio output --> headset audio --> headset format, there
    are three choices: stereo uncompressed, Windows Sonic for Headphones, and Dolby Atmos for headphones. I wonder: when the controller is connected to the console via USB, will stereo uncompressed be 16-bit, 44.1 kHz stereo PCM, or will it be something else?
    Will Windows Sonic for Headphones be 16-bit, 44.1 kHz stereo PCM (with virtualized surround sound), or will it be something else? What about Dolby Atmos for headphones?

    I was just on the phone with customer support, and they told me that the Xbox One S console and controller both support Bluetooth, and when the controller is connected to the console wirelessly, it is using Bluetooth, and when
    it is connected via USB, it is using USB for everything. Since the One S does not have aptX nor Bluetooth 5.0, when the controller is connected to the console via Bluetooth, and a wired headset is connected to the controller, audio compression will, most likely,
    be lossy because of Bluetooth.

    Good day the controller does support bluetooth but this function is for connecting to other devices like laptops, the controller connects with on the xbox wireless band to the console

    it wont work via bluetooth as the controller does not pass audio vie bluetooth.

    wired then it technically should pic the headset up as a usb audio device. i normally use either a turtlebeach 3.5mm headset or my mobile phone headset.

    not sure why it wont work over usb though.

    xbox one controller pass through audio won't work on my pc

    for audio to work with a xbox controller on pc it has to be wired, the controller does not support audio over bluetooth. thats why i purchased a usb headset as its a pain.

    they are the same as the standard xbox one s controllers, so with pc you can use via bluetooth(audio through headphone jack not supported)

    or wired(supports audio via headphone jack)
