    ICMP Error, Can't connect


    I'm trying to connect to XBL via a wired connection and every time I try I get an ICMP error. It works just fine on wireless but once I connect via a wired connection it goes to hell. I'm living in a dorm so I don't exactly have access to the equipment and
    it seems to only occur in my room.(Worked fine via a wired connection in my friend's room).

    Can't connect between the modem and internet step of Xbox Live test

    As in the title, I can't connect to Xbox Live and the connection test is failing in the step between my modem and the internet.

    I've turned off everything and turned it back on, starting from the modem. I've reset the network settings on the Xbox back to factory default, and manually entered the DNS address. I've tested out a direct connection to my modem without the router. My
    computer is currently not having any connection problems with the same network connection.

    On my first attempt to connect, I got an error about ICMP and was directed to a support about failure for ICMP connection (or whatever the ICMP-related error is). After the first fix attempt of turning off the Xbox and modem, every error I've gotten since
    then has simply given me a more generic error about failure to connect and directed me to the general Xbox support page.

    and here we are, two some years later, and icmp errors are back, in truth half the time it wont connect to live and either gives me " live connection error" or "icmp " three days now since some jack-squat hacker group decided to be babies, yet im still suffering
    and losing money on their immaturity .

    Xbox 360 won't connect to Xbox Live, but the Xbox One works just fine...

    could you run a live Connection test on your 360 and check which Kind of error it Shows?

    like mtu error, icmp error, ip address error or similar?

    Is the ICMP error the only error that you are getting when you do the LIVE Connection test? Have you seen any others?



    You've said you've tried all of the steps. Were those the steps from our support page for

    Error: Your router or gateway is not responding to ICMP responses    ? If so, did you still get an ICMP error after the network hardware restart in Solution 1? If not, what was the new error? Did you find both your router and modem on the hardware compatibility
    list that is linked in Solution 2. Also, what were the results when you tried the direct wired modem connection described in Solution 3?
