  2. e-mail account blocked, want new email associated with gamertag

    Hi,

The e-mail account associated with my gamertag (not this one) has been blocked by live saying "looks like someone may be using your account" and asking my to fill out a questionnaire to verify who I am. However, the account is years old and unused so I
    forget all the information.

When I try to sign in to hotmail or xbox.com I am led to the same page. If I can't recover my account I will lose a lot of ms points or else I would just make a new account. I have a new e-mail I would like to be associated with my gamertag instead of
the old locked one. I can't change my e-mail on the console because I get an error due to the block.

    Microsoft Account Confusion? Please Help.

So, I just bought a new Microsoft Surface. Upon signing into my account, Microsoft created this "GunshyPrawn95" gamertag, even though I have a fully functioning gamertag, "DominatorDom22", that I have been using and that (at least I thought) was linked to
my email address associated with my Microsoft account. I am simply trying to change around my accounts to get my original gamertag connected to my Microsoft Account.

After much research, I figured out what happened,

A while back - 2 or so years ago, I asked a Microsoft employee, on a call to try and change my automatic renewal status on my Xbox live membership, to change my password associated with my account to my e-mail that I wanted to use as my Microsoft account
(or Live! account, as it was known back then).

Instead of just changing it, they made my new e-mail address the parental account for my old e-mail address (I don't know why or how - I am an adult. Was back then, still am now.) So, my "DominatorDom22" gamertag was linked to my old e-mail address, while
my new e-mail address was the parental account now. I used my new e-mail to sign in, recover my gamertag, etc.

Not a problem, except that when I tried to sign into my Surface with my gamertag info years later, it probably recognized that I did not have a gamertag exclusively listed at that account - and took the liberty of making this "GunshyPrawn95" nonsense by
    itself.

Here is the real problem - I can't re-associate my old gamertag ("DominatorDom22") with my new e-mail address, because now the new e-mail is listed as already having a gamertag ("GunshyPrawn95"). AND, apparently I can't switch my GunshyPrawn95 gamertag to
a different e-mail address, because it simply won't let me. I read something about not being able to change 30 days after creation?

I don't want to give up on my new e-mail account, because I have a lot of stuff linked with my new microsoft account - just not my gamertag, and it's really annoying. Is there some way to delete this "GunshyPrawn", so that I can fix these parental settings?
Or is there a way around this 30 days thing? I don't want to have to wait because of someone else making my new account some parental account for my old gamertag, and not just making the complete switch.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  4. I would like to change my old gamertag/account to a new e mail

    Hey, CruZector!

As long as you can sign in to the old account, you should be able to change the primary email on it. You will want to follow all the steps on our

    change your Microsoft account
support article, but you'll need to do some juggling and have a couple of emails handy. It'll go basically like this:

    1. Change the email on CruSector to something else
    2. Make it the primary
    3. Remove the email you want
    4. Do the same to the account with the email you want to use with another email address
    5. You'll have to wait 30 days here
    6. Then you can put that email onto CruSector
That SHOULD work out. However, if it doesn't, I suggest giving up our
    phone support
a call. They should be able to help out further. If not, definitely post back so that we can look into other options with you.

Thanks for posting! I would like to change my old gamertag/account to a new e mail :)

How to Recover An Old Gamertag

You will need to remember the e-mail you used to set up the original gamertag and use that to download that account. If it was the same e-mail then there's 2 possibilities.

    1. You are misremembering and it was a different e-mail

    2. The old Microsoft Account was shut down and the old gamertag is currently on NO e-mail address.

Both of these will require contacting Live support (by phone in America/Canada at 1-800-469-9269) to verify the information on the account. if it's problem 2 then they will likely need to escalate to get it fixed.

If you want to have your old gamertag on your new account then you will need to game access to the old account, change the gamertag, then hope that it becomes available at some point for you to use on the new account.

Changing Xbox Live Account to another email?

Is it possible to change the main e-mail address associated with my Live ID/gamertag if the e-mail address no longer exists? I did not log into the account for years and now it's gone, so I cannot check the e-mails I would receive for things like password
    changes.

And I would REALLY like to change my password, considering it's from 2008..

    terms and conditions

Do you recognize the e-mail? Is it a "new-to-you" console or one that was pre-owned? If it is an old e-mail of yours you can update your Microsoft account at account.live.com and change your e-mail address or alias to reflect the correct e-mail address
    you would like.

Two gamer tags associated to one email address

So what you did was change the sign in e-mail, not the login e-mail. The log in e-mail still uses the old address. You can change his Microsoft Account using the steps here:

    support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account

However to do that you will need to use a different e-mail as you can't have 2 gamertags on the same e-mail.
