It sounds to me like you have forgotten the Microsoft account associated with your xbox live account. When you have your Microsoft account associated with a Microsoft account it wont allow you to associate the Micorsoft account with another gamertag. Try
another email address that you might have used on the xbox live account or call support, give them your gamertag, Confirm that you are the owner of the account by answerring the security questions and they will be able to confirm the Microsoft account associated
with your xbox live account.

Alright, so, my main issue is that I'd like to move THIS gamertag to another Microsoft account, (the one I use for my laptop, tablet, etc.) which has a different gamertag associated with it; so, i figured my easiest solution would be to delete that gamertag.
Guess that one wont work! Do I have any other options? Haha

Once a Microsoft Account is associated with a gamertag, that slot in the Microsoft Account is taken and you can't assign another gamertag to it until the gamertag is assigned to a different Microsoft Account.

Microsoft accounts can only be associated to one gamertag forever, you would never be able to have a second gamertag on one email, or associate a different gamertag, since to unlink a gamertag it's necessary to delete the Microsoft account entirely, you can add a second email to one Gamertag as long as that email has never been linked to another gamertag
