I would like this game to be considered

Like others have said, it's nothing like Skyrim. When I played Skyrim (140 hours to get 1000/1000) I thought it would be a while before I played a game I liked as much. Well, Dark Souls was the next game I played and I like it just as much.

So far I have played for 45 hours and feel like I'm just starting to open things up a bit which is nice. Combat will be hard at first, but after a day or two or three you will get a lot better at it. Each enemy requires a different way to beat it.

The hardest part for me was getting used to leveling up and knowing what all the stats meant etc. I'm not an rpg fan although I'm getting an interest from the last 2 games I have played.

It is a great game. While it is confusing at first for a lot of people, you'll get the hang of it. People in this forum are good for helping out. I actually find a lot of good Youtube vids to help me out plus the wiki. I used the wiki to early and it had
some spoilers, but nothing major.

The only thing I don't like is it seems like it will be impossible to get 1000/1000 for me. lol

My first playthrough took me about 120-130 hours (with pretty much exploring almost every corner of Dark Souls).

Most motivating thing is having to figure out almost everything by yourself [or the wiki if you want to spare that experience, which I'd not recommend].

Actually there are a few quests. On your way you'll encounter different charakters you can influence/help on their path every once in a while, but those quests are more marginally.

There are two confirmed endings and rumors about a third and well hidden ending (but as normally rumors may turn out true I'd say this is more of a myth).

NG+ scales up enemies quite a bit and make another playthrough with the same charakter very appealing and challenging again.

It's not like Skyrim. I played Skyrim at my girlfriend and made it to player-level 12 when I finally got bored and lost my motivation to continue it. At that time I already played Dark Souls which made it kinda hard to give Skyrim another shot.

It's an outstanding (in every single sense of the word) game that can't be compared to another nowadays' game easily. The only game I'd compare it to, is Zelda II on NES. An "open but not completely open" world with very few hints and lots and lots to find
out yourself and many fights will cost your life if you don't take care. As long as you take care and play the game attentively you'll keep progressing steadily most of the time.

• It's not like Skyrim at all. That's why it's awesome.
• It follows the NG+ replay style.
• There are different endings.
• There aren't quests per se, but there are covenants that you can join and level up in by doing certain actions. Such as the Warriors of Sunlight. You level up in the covenant by co-oping with people and if you co-op enough you get a special miracle.
  
• It is a long game. Even when you get used to the game it is still long if you scour each end and try leveling up in the covenant of you choice.
  

It's a good game. If you like RPGs, you will enjoy this game, no doubt in my mind.

Many critics put down the game in terms of it's linearity. The game does open up in chapter 10 or 11 when you hit Gran Pulse. During that chapter you have to grind real bad (like for a few hours) in order for your characters to reach a high enough level
so that you're prepared for the final chapters of the story. When I hit Gran Pulse first time, my characters only had around 1,000 HP when I reached Eden they had like around 3,000+ HP.

Everyone praises the GRAPHICS and the BATTLE SYSTEM. The games native resolution is 576p for xbox and 720p for PS3. But both xbox and PS3 can upscale the graphics up to 1080p. But some including I argue that some of the cutscenes in the xbox version look
1080p native due to how good the graphics in the game look! XD Especially the ending cutscene in the game where Coceden turns into a crystal pillar the Lightning and the gang are on Gran Pulse. THAT cutscene looks 1080p native on xbox.

To sum the game up, there are two worlds at war. Cocoon and the humans who have fal'Cie who look after them. And Gran Pulse the untammed world. Cocoon is a futurisitc paradise artificial planet-like sphere where people live inside it, filled with highly
advanced technology.
