I will connect my account then it will say I can close the tab but when I look at my switch...

I have tried to restart minecraft and the switch but neither work. I know it can't be the internet because my other games like fortnite or apex work fine.

I actually found a thread on Nintendo Support related to your issue:

1. Go to your system settings on your switch
2. Go to data management tab
3. Go to manage save data/screenshots and Videos
4, Go to Delete save data
5. Delete the Minecraft (NOT NINTENDO SWITCH EDITION) save data for YOUR login.

Try this and let me know how it goes
