I was unable to download Dirt Showdown during the Free Games with Gold Period of ...

Hi,

I was unable to download Dirt Showdown during the Free Games with Gold Period of 01/01-01/15/2016 due to a system error and now it's too late to attempt downloading it again. Customer Service over the phone was very friendly/helpful but unfortunately did
not have the ability to add this game to my account. I was advised to post the issue here and that someone would possibly be able to help me out.

Sorry, but once the games are no longer part of a promotion, it is not possible to get them at that promotional price unless they go on the promotion again. Forum support has no way of changing it either.

Based on a quick internet search, I was not the only one to experience this issue. Microsoft should just extend the games with gold download period for this game.

I guess the lesson learned here is that you should always contact support at the time you get an error. In this case when I originally got the error I just moved along thinking I would try again later but by the time I tried again later it was too late.

Like 80% of the time it's something that the user did like using an account region hat they don't acthally lives in to get content that they aren't supposed to get like us or uk content over in germany

For the best experience with live your account region must reflect your actual regjon

The console region or locale has no bearing on 8015017 errors which is the most common

People think because sometimes they can download content they don't have an region issue

It's usually triple a games that are affected like gears Halo or cod or even dirt

To fix this you must use the region migration tool

Or check xbox live statuses

If there is download issues in server status then wait a bit but remember things are a limited time

But if there isn't or something easily fixed then contact forum or help

For 8015017 it is mandatory to use your own region unless you don't live in an xbox live region
