I was excited for Far Cry 4 until I read this.......

You can wait a couple weeks to get a game and wait for reviews, you know? Don't just blindly buy a game you're not 100% sure about. Not every game needs to be a Day 1 purchase. Heck, I'm playing through my backlog of old games. Next gen can wait as I still
have mad games to play this generation.

Here's the problem with MT's: they are built to make you want to pay for them and upset the game's design. You are not developing good games you are just developing around a money-making scheme. MT's in retail games are already nonsense but ones that affect
the gameplay are even more stupid. I'm not going to buy them and I;m not going to waste my time playing the game because it was poorly made.

 

^^ Thats how I feel. If MTs are in a game I don't care unless its stuff I need to beat the game. If the game can be completed without the purchase of anything it doesn't bother me one bit if they a few upgrades. Or whatever for sale.

 

Ideally, but if there is no reason to buy the MT's then they are made pointless. All interest I had in PvZ: Garden warfare was destroyed the the game was justt a preamble for it's MT's nonsense. Adding MT's does not fix the pacing issue for unlocks in that
game.

That's also one of the reasons why I don't bother with League of Legends and was more inserted in Dota 2. I;m not going to be handicapped because all your characters are behind a paywall but Dota has all of them readily available too you with the MT's being
cosmetic-only.

 

Ill use Child of Light for instance. It has some micro-transactions that will give you stardust which helps upgrade your character. Its not needed but its there. I didn't buy and I'm not forced to because leveling up isn't hard. It had no impact on the gameplay
whatsoever. I see stuff like that as being there for suckers.

 

Lol@Pyramid. PvZ Garden Warfare didn't add MT's till just recently. I was way past level 50 and unlocked plenty of characters and customization way before then. Like 24 said, they're there for the people to get(if they suck really bad at the game) so they
can get a little boost. The only MT's in PvZ are coins which you can use to buy card packs, but you don't even need that. They even made it so people who suck really bad are getting coins constantly, with a "good effort" bonus or "suppression". They didn't
have those before, but they were added for people who struggle in that game. Same reason for MT's. No one is forcing you to buy dat ***. I destroy kids on that game and I use my simple characters. I see a lot of people using their pimped out characters and
they're still pretty bad with them.

So yeah, you don't need to buy any MT's, brah. Garden Warfare is a really fun game especially with friends. There's no party up system. You have to have your friends join your session like BF4. That's my only complaint, but other than that.. the game is
superb. It's on sale now for 20 bucks. I got it for 30 and felt I ripped them off. Great deal imo.

 

I wasn't particularly excited and now I'm not even remotely interested.

For them to come out with the whole 'Yeah, we're going to make and sell a game but our whole idea is to use the game to sell minor digital items for more money' angle so blatantly is just disgusting.

To the un-educated these games may seem like nothing more than a mish mash of androgenous teenagers and comedy swords but top tier gamers recognise JRPG's for the deep and meaningful social commentary on our ever changing world that they actually are.

I do not mind MT. As long it can be played without it. I need bunch of cash finish TETRIS BLITZ.

 

I would hold off any judgement until I here peoples thoughts after they've played it. I didn't get FC3 straight away, in fact I got it for a Christmas as a present, so I won't be in any rush to get this straight away.

Would the overly sexualised girls and other androgynous teenagers be the key ingredient in all that deep and meaningful commentary?

 

OK, I was never excited, FC3 was overated and Vas? Was a complete joke, the cheesiest bad guy in any game last gen. The narrative was a complete corn ball of cliche's and frankly I wanted the charcters dead before I even started the game.

Lost track here, FC4 would be try before buy and thats only because Blood Dragon was a laugh.

 

The call of duty model: put out a generic shooter every year and sell several item/map packs along with it. This is ensuring a lack of quality as well as repetitiveness. Somehow packaging something as new makes people throw $100 at it every year. Sorry if
this offended COD players. I own ghosts but I am simply pointing out shady game practices. BOO to devs following this model. Look into games like Child of Light. Amazing and unique for $15. That's the way games should be made.

 

People are eagerly willing to shell out for the DLC and extra items, which means they are also shelling out for an incomplete game as well. They're only doing what they know they can get away with.
