I was banned from the Xbox Forum, why does the ban extend to here?

I was banned from the Xbox.com forum under my main account of voteDC. I don't dispute that ban, it was deserved.

However I am surprised to find that the ban extends to answers.microsoft.com as well. Is there any way to get the ban lifted from this site or are the databases of Xbox.com and answers.microsoft.com far too linked for that to happen?

Forgive me if this is the wrong section in which to ask but I couldn't think of anywhere that would have suited it better.

It's not a permenant ban but those that have received a retail console early and connected it to the net have had it banned.

Any account that uses Microsoft service is affected by the banned. Does this mean your GT is perma banned?

 

An account ban extends in all online xbox and MS services.

 

This is not a account ban, my gamertag (voteDC) is still in use on Xbox Live. It was simply a ban from the xbox forum.

It is a shame then that a forum ban there equals a ban from here. I find that somewhat of a shame but I guess it is something I am going to have to live with.

 

In that case seems like a privilege suspension. On Xbox One and Xbox on Windows privileges are used to determine what each account can and cannot do on the Xbox Live service. A privilege suspension can occur when an account has abused a particular
Xbox Live feature or committed a Code of Conduct violation that does not necessitate a full account suspension.

As I mentioned before this is not an account ban, my gamertag is still able to connect to Xbox Live. This is simply a ban from the xbox forum that has been extended to here, I'm guessing by a shared database.

Since the xbox.com forum is soon to be closed, it would be nice to be able to interact with people on Live and the forum here in the same identity. Rather than as I am having to do at the moment with gaming as voteDC and posting here as Zen.

 

I never even thought about that. It doesn't really make too much sense to me since they're 2 different forums. Have you tried messaging one of the mods about it?

 

Has it always been this way or did it just start not allowing you to use the answers.microsoft.com forums?

I know here recently they are planning on combining the two forums so if this just started then it may be a part of that combination.

 

I've only really come here in the past few weeks and this has been an issue since then. I'm really not aware if it was happening before.

 

There doesn't seem to be anyway to send a mod a private message, hence this thread in the hopes of attracting their attention.

The back-end for these forums is linked with Answers. Any ban here is a ban there, and vice versa. Unfortunate side effect and it cannot be reversed. Sorry, dude. And you know

alt accounts aren't allowed (rule 20). Hopefully you're able to post back soon, but I'm sure one of the mods will be here swiftly to rectify that.
