I want to use a computer monitor as my screen to play Xbox 360/One

So I've been using a TV as a display for my consoles for years, I want to upgrade to playing on a monitor with rich colors, nice refresh rate and low input lag.

But I'm not really sure how to do it, from which I've investigated I can use a monitor to play console games if they have an HDMI input slot. So my question is can I connect my HDMI cable from my Xbox to the monitor and just use it like that or do I need
some extra software or any accessory to do it?

    :)

    I gave in

I want to use my Kinect, but I play on a monitor that sits on a computer desk. I'm half a foot from the Xbox and a foot from the monitor.

Once I get one for the Living room, I'll definitely give it a shot.

If your monitor supports HDMI then you just do it like that. However not all monitors support that or have speakers so in order to have sound you'll need a workaround.

If your monitor only supports DVI or HDMI displayport you'll need to get a cable which converts from HDMI to DVI or HDMI to displayport

DVI does not support sound there is however an HDMI to DVI+audio cable, this audio cable is just a regular 3.5mm jack which can be plugged into external speakers so you'll just have to see which works best for you.

And a little footnote, if your resolution on the monitor is smaller than the one you have set up on your Xbox now you might have to reset the resolution on your Xbox.

I've been using a monitor to play xbox since the original xbox came out. At first I used an adapter, but since 360, I just plugged it in my HDMI port like a TV.

If you're in the market for a monitor, there's a few things to consider.

    1. If you play a lot of really fast-paced games, or are into competition, you would probably want to get a TN panel monitor. These monitors offer the fastest response times, and high refresh rates (120hz) meaning little to no ghosting and really smooth movement
    on screen.

    2. If you would rather sacrifice that extra speed and go for a more accurate color palette and a better overall picture, then you should look into IPS monitors. These are the monitors industry professionals use for photography and graphic works. They tend
to be a more expensive than TN panel monitors, and can get really expensive for high end models, but you can find a decent model for a decent price. The sacrice in response time also isn't too bad. You're looking at like 6ms on an IPS compared to 0ms on a
TN. I think the quality in picture is worth it.

What is the point of Streaming Xbox games to PC?

Easy answer. If it interests you then use it. If not, don't worry about it.

I use it so I can play my Xbox on one monitor while I can use the internet on my other monitor. For others it's being able to go to their computer to play Xbox when their spouse/parents/siblings come home and want to watch TV where your Xbox is. You

You also get the added ability to use a Xbox 360 controller to play Xbox One games, which I do.

There's all types of benefits to it. But if you can't think of one that favors you then don't worry about it.

    USB to HDMI

    Hi,

If you want to connect your computer monitor that does not have an HDMI port to your Xbox One console, you can use an HDMI adapter and connect it to the monitor's USB port. Its display would depend on the resolution of your computer monitor. To know more
about your computer monitor's screen resolution, you may need to get in touch with the device manufacturer.

Don't hesitate to get back to us if you have any other inquiries.
