I want to understand the xbox as an electronic device. Not a toy.

Hi, Ezra. It's good to have the confirmation that those things that I thought can be done, can be done. It doesn't help me know the Xbox's range of capabilities is, so that I can design a solution around them.

Maybe there's something that would help my Mom that hasn't occurred to me, because I am not aware of connectors on and software in the Xbox.

For example, I am told the Xbox uses Windows 10, but not the standard Windows 10. To my mind, that raises a bunch of questions about what I can and cannot do.

I work as a computer programmer 40 hours a week. I have an electrical engineering degree. I want to know what the capabilities of the machine are, so I can plan around them.

Thank you for your post. I understand you are looking to purchase an Xbox as a means to connecting to the internet to browse the web, play movies on DVD & Blu-Ray, and for Skype calling. The Xbox One is completely capable of doing so. Xbox can not only be
controlled with the Xbox One controller, you can also plug in a mouse and keyboard to navigate the menu and enter keystrokes.

I understand, even if contacting Microsoft Xbox support, they will only inform you that your console is no longer possible for a free console repair order since your console is no longer covered by warranty.

It seems the only best option left is to have your console repaired to your local electronics shop as they have the tools to repair your device.

No worries, I had a similar case before with my Xbox One X console system issue and our local electronic shop was able to fix my device successfully.

It's a consumer electronics device. It's not something the government requires you buy.
