I want to put my gamertag onto a new microsoft account

I have an xbox account tied to a Microsoft account. Is there a way to change the account this is tied to? Note: i do not want to change the email on the microsoft account using aliasis, i want to put the gamertag onto a new microsoft account

Unfortunately, there is no possible way to link same Gamertag to a different account email. the closest to that is what you mentioned, adding another email as alias and make that alias as primary signing email.

To simplify, the new email you have... Make a Microsoft account with it, careful not to generate a new gamertag while making the account.

Then switch the gamertag you want onto that MS account.

If you own the account with that gamertag and you close the account completely that gamertag will be gone forever.

If you own this account and want that gamertag on another account you would need to change the gamertag on that account (cost of 9.99) then that will free up that gamertag to be able to be put onto another account.

You will want to do this at the same time so that if you change the gamertag and decide to wait it will be free for someone else to take until you put it onto another account.

I have 2 accounts. My original xbox account had my gamertag changed from the default one to the one it has now (the gamertag I would like to have) and I have my new account which I had as a Microsoft account before they were merged. My Microsoft account is what I use everything for, but I want to have my Xbox gamertag on that account. That account was set up as an Xbox account, and when I tried to change the gamertag for it, the limit for characters was 12. So in short I have had the gamertag in the past, and still do. But it needs to be put onto a different account. And to be clear, the gamertag is the only thing I care about from my original account. If I can get my Microsoft account to have my gamertag I would likely delete my old account entirely.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to delete an account from the service. If you want to use the email address attached to it for another account, you will need to put an alternate email address onto it.
