I want to play an X/S battlefield 1 but my friends have xbox one. can we play together or not?

I'm having issues inside battlefield 2042 with inviting a friend (plays on xbox one X) and I play on Xbox series S, they are on my xbox friends list but not on my battlefield list, I tried typing their EA name and it doesn't show up, I had them look me up and the same for them...any ideas?

Cross-play is not supported between GTA 5 Enhanced Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. So, Xbox Series X|S players using the enhanced version of the game won’t be able to play with those on Xbox One.

By the way , you can play GTA Online with people using systems in the same console family. If you have an Xbox Series X, but your friends own Xbox Ones, you can still jump into lobbies together.

So I have an xbox 1 and want to play the campaign co-op for Halo 5. I have on xbox gold account and one console. My boys have gamertags but no account. When I sign in I cannot put them on the game so that we can play together. How do I do this? We want
to play the campaign mode together.
