    Another thing you will want to check if you know what the email and password for the parental account was is sign into account.microsoft.com/family and make sure he did not somehow delete himself completely from the family.

    I fixed the problem... finally. I managed to change the password of the email linked to the parental account. I deleted the xbox live account but not the email.

    What kind of password is this? If it is a LIVE password and NOT a parental password then he can reset the password by deleting his GamerTag off of the console (settings tab>system storage>find GamerTag and delete) and then redownloading it by pressing the
    guide button and selecting "download profile". Let us know a little bit more please :).
