I want to change the settings from my child

This defeats the whole purpose as I don't want my child to have the ability change his own settings. According to the xbox one instructions you should be able to change the child settings while logged in as the parent, the instructions state specifically
to login as the parent.

I am not trying to lock them out of my account (although they are using their own account). I am talking about the account settings can be simply changed from child to adult. Every account setting can be changed from within the child account.

There is no adult account for my child account so I cant change my child account setting. I want to purchase something but cant since i cant find my adult account. When i press on family, it only comes up with my child account.

I believe that a child account, by default, has purchases options turned off....you'd need to change the Privacy settings on the child's account to allow purchases.

You can manage things from the Xbox Family Settings App but I am not sure which option turns purchases on and off

Edit: FOund this on an older thread from someone wanting to upgrade Xbox Live to Game Pass on a child acocunt:

"I figured it out for my child. I had to go in and allow them to buy items without asking for my permission. Once that was changed I logged into their account and converted the subscription to game pass. Afterwards I went back into my account and turned on the content restrictions again."

The account's status as a child/adult is determined by the age that was used when the account was created.

If the account was created with an age that is not 18 yet, that account would have to wait until graduation (whenever the account turns 18).

A determined child account would need the assistance of an adult account to change its settings.

My account is already 18, but I still can't change my xbox settings. Every time I sign into xbox live, and I click "my xbox"-->"profile", I would be sent to this page:
