I want to change my Gamertag

Why would it even be a bother you do realize that there are probably a million or more John's in the world

Tell us how they can pick you out of all of them

They can't

what moder forums tell you there is no free change because the said excuses can be solved

Not to mention it is a black mark on your gamer account record

also what they are advising isn't recommended because it is only used for terms of use violations

And you don't get to pick your name you are given a random one and have to pay for a personal name again

The name change isn't to reward people who break the rules it is to punish them

That gamertag is still active. It was used yesterday.

Have you tried to change your account Region?

Sign in to your Microsoft account and review your info. https://account.microsoft.com/

Select Edit profile info.

Update the info under Country/region, State, Postal code, and/or Time zone, as applicable.

Select Save.

The only way you could use it is if the original owner changes it to something else or they do not sign into the account for 5 years. Otherwise, there is no way to request it.

Keep in mind that the gamertag system is in use on other Microsoft services, so even if it is not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use somewhere else.

Xbox will not change the tag if it is not offensive. You will need to change it yourself. The cost to

change the tag is $10.00.
