I want to buy Minecraft Java Edition but I only have money in my Microsoft account/Xbox...

The Xbox edition of Minecraft in the screenshot is still the Bedrock edition, is it not? I should have access to Java through owning the Bedrock edition, and I don't understand why I wouldn't be able to play it if I played Java in the past with my Microsoft account without having to buy Java.

While Mojang is owned by Microsoft, they still have their own operations. By that, I am meaning that Microsoft has no part in distributing Java Edition licenses. Therefore, you cannot purchase Java ED with your Xbox account.

I experienced same situation. I tried to buy Minecraft Java Edition, following the steps. It seemed as if I needed to add money on my kids Microsoft account, but after complicated family security approval it made me purchase directly on Minecraft site (Not able to use Microsoft account balance).

Only Minecraft, it was a redeem code because I bought Minecraft Java Edition in the past. I didnt buy any games from Microsoft store and I dont own an Xbox, so I never really use my Xbox Live Account.
